Bonjour from Aix en Provence, France! The first half of the semester has absolutely flown by, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. My time in France this semester has been challenging but rewarding in ways I never knew possible. I’ve loved exploring Aix en Provence this semester and discovering its small town charm. Here are a few of my favorite things about Aix:
The markets: every other day Aix en Provence hosts five grand markets that are spread all over town. Here you can find local fruits and vegetables (some of the best produce I’ve ever eaten!), meats, French cheeses, lavender products ..read more

Jenna Kate Bisbee is an International Relations and French double major from Merrimack, New Hampshire. Jenna will be studying abroad for the fall semester at IAU College in Aix-en-Provence, France with Academic Studies Abroad.
Why did you decide to study abroad?
I chose to study abroad to not only enhance my language skills, but also to expose myself to different cultures and to try new things. I believe that travel is the ultimate teacher in that it teaches us not only about foreign lands and cultures but also about ourselves.
What do you think you’ll miss the most while you’re awa ..read more

Last day in Galway
It seems like just yesterday that I was exploring the beautiful country side of Ireland and beyond with all the amazing friends I had meet. Now I am already back to real life, working, and preparing for my senior year, and all the while I find that my time abroad feels as though it was ages ago. My last days in Galway were spent visiting my favorite places to eat, walking the "prom", sitting by the Claddagh and even jumping off the famous black rock diving tower as one last hurrah. I can still remember my last night in Galway, going to my favorite pubs for one last time wi ..read more

My study abroad program and I arrive on the outskirts of Lake Titicaca at the Paramis fishing village nestled on a terraced hill. The straw roofed cottages sprinkled along the coast serve as our respite for the night and a little exploring soon reveals a field of colorful grain-like plants reaching for the breeze. The colorful plants are no other than quinoa, the superfood that is now a health sensation across the globe. People have good reason to worship the food; quinoa is a good source of protein, fiber, iron, copper, vitamins, fat, antioxidants, and fatty acids. It tastes good too. However ..read more

My favorite thing to eat in Ireland: tea and something sweet
Some of my favorite things about Galway is definitely is the food, which might sound surprising considering most people don't usually think of Ireland when they think of good food. And while Ireland may not have amazing pasta like in Italy or delicious macaroons like Paris, it does have some hidden finds that everyone should try when they come here. First of all, if you are in Ireland you must find a cafe and sit for some tea and a scone or croissant. In cafes here they bring you an entire tea pot just for yourself and you can ..read more

Hi Everyone! Thinking about studying abroad? Or perhaps you are already abroad? Well here are my suggested art spots in England for those in search of a fantastic museum or stroll throughout history. Definitely worth a trip!
Catherine at the Scottish National Gallery
5. Liverpool – Home of the Beatles, the thriving port city of Liverpool is known for its rich culture of music and art. For those who are interested in reliving the story of the Beatles, a journey on the Magical Mystery Tour and exploring the Beatles Museum are a must do activity! However, what I found most impressive about the ..read more

Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh, Scotland
After almost 2 full months here I find myself becoming sad to leave this wonderful place I have grown to call home. When I look back to my first month here and my initial feeling of being overwhelmed confused and homesick, I now feel that living in Ireland has become my normal life. I know the best places to get the best breakfast or where to find the cheapest meal and feel at ease of everything in Galway. And while life here has become somewhat of the norm there are still things that are so different from back home, especially the classes. First of all the ..read more

After arriving in Cusco, Peru my breath was taken away by the mountainous landscape, the warm air, and the open arm welcome by the ISA staff and my host family. The first week is a blur of meeting my peers, exploring the local area, starting classes, and spending time with my host family. As I reflect on this exciting time, I realize how much happens in only a week and the importance of taking the time to process the excitement of being in a new place. The first week can be overwhelming and overstimulating, but taking a little time each day to ponder the days coming and goings is essential to ..read more

View of the Great Hall, University of Leeds.
I have been back in Leeds for about two weeks now. Something I noticed is that it is definitely different returning for the second semester than it is arriving for the first time in Leeds. Yesterday, I met the new arrivals who are studying abroad at the University of Leeds for the spring semester with API. They reminded me of how I felt when I first arrived in Leeds. When I arrived in Leeds in September, I was living off the rush of excitement of being abroad. To me, the streets were lined with gold and life was surreal. Now, after living in ..read more

Wow, my first week in Galway has been a world wind filled with so much excitement, non stop going and sometimes confusion. Getting on an airplane for the first time by myself was overwhelming, but all the crew had Irish accents which definitely made me feel at ease. After stepping off the plane, my API director Kevin was waiting for us with a big smile and API sign. We then boarded the bus and Kevin talked our ear off telling us all about his favorite places in Ireland as we drove through the scenic landscape. Everything is very different here espe ..read more
