Hello,  This past week was spring break for us here at AUR In Rome. I started my break on Friday and headed straight to stay with a friend from Manhattan College right outside of the city. Getting through the Airport was smooth and walked right through security. I still can't get over how minimal the lines are here!  I landed in Paris and it felt like a dream! I knew that Paris was a place I needed to visit while I was here. It was so amazing as soon as I got off the plane. However, as I was looking for my Uber driver he called me 3x telling me where he was in French. I kept t ..read more

Hello, This past weekend my flatmates and I went to Tirana, Albania. For those who may not know Albania is a amazing country located in Southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula, bordering the Mediterranean Sea. With Greece to the south and Montenegro to the Northwest. I began my journey in the capital which is called Tirana, exploring the Skanderbeg Square which was named after their National Hero. Here, it is surrounded by grand buildings and monuments, gaining insight of the entire city. I decided to go to the National History Museum, where you can trace Albania's past from ancie ..read more

The past few weeks have been very interesting. I have been exploring more of the city. My favorite areas so far are Malasaña and La Latina. Time is flying by!  February 16th, my friends and I went on a trip to Salamanca with a tour group. There were a lot of other students. Salamanca is known as the Golden City because of its sandstone buildings. Also, during the Second Spanish Civil War, Salamanca was the Nationalist capital. We learned a lot of different things about the city's history from a good tour guide. One interesting fact was that people used to sharpen knives on the walls, leav ..read more

Hi all,  It's me again! I hope all is well in New York or wherever you are reading from! This past weekend I was in Cagliari, Italy! Cagliari is located in the south of Sardinia, a little island off the coast of Italy!  We were blessed with warm weather and were able to go on a boat and sit on the beach for a while too! We saw flamingos and walked around the town!  First, we had a very early wake-up. Our day started at 4:30am! We took a train at 5am to get to the airport by 5:30am. I actually was very surprised when we got there the security line wait was only 2 min! Aft ..read more

These past few weeks have been really exciting!  On January 25th, we took a trip with our professor to Toledo, a town known for its swords. The views were beautiful. We visited a few cathedrals, mosques, and a synagogue. It has been really helpful to be able to see in person the sites that we are learning about in class.  January 28th, some friends and I visited the popular weekend flea market, El Rastro. It was packed with people! Apparently, some people go every weekend, not just to shop but also to socialize and catch up with friends. There were lots of cute things, from clo ..read more

Bona Nit,    Around noon we arrived in Sitges, a small town near Barcelona. It is such a cute artsy town filled with people in picturesque alleys, there was a thick, colorful carpet of confetti running from the train station down to the beach. We decided to stop at a bar to have Empanadas & Tapas before the carnival started. All around Sitges there was people in costumes walking up and down the seafront, watching football matches at the local pubs or eating lunch. Children were running around in costumes, playing with sparkles, confetti, water guns etc.   ..read more

Since Prague is a center city in Europe, it makes it so easy to travel to other locations! My first weekend trip outside of Prague was to Berlin. It's so great not having class on Friday, it gives me more time to explore other places. I boarded my bus 2:30am Friday morning with 5 of my friends in the pitch black and pouring rain. Not a good start to this trip. After a bus, a train, and a single hour of sleep, we arrived in Berlin! Things were off to a rough start but thankfully turned around after we got food and rest.  The first day we visited the Deutsches Spionage Museum where I learne ..read more

Hey! Welcome to the beginning of my adventures abroad! My name is Lauren Rosenberg and I am embarking on my journey to study abroad in Prague for the spring of 2024. Currently I am sitting in the airport waiting for my flight. Only two more hours to go! The time feels excruciatingly slow but nothing will compare to the 18 hour layover ahead of me (eww). Thankfully I am able to travel with my best friend, Daniela, who is studying abroad in Prague as well! Together we have movies, books, and plenty of tik toks to keep us entertained. It will be a long day of travel ahead of us, but it is a ..read more

Hola!!  I have finally started my study abroad experience in Barcelona, Spain. It has been very lovely so far, from the awesome weather to the amazing nightlife. Today i went on a  Barri Gòtic ( aka Gothic Quarter) tour with some other exchange students from my uni. We got to explore the entire downtown part of Barcelona. Which had narrow medieval streets that are filled with Bars, Clubs & Catalan restaurants. Artisans sell leather & jewelry near the Catedral de Barcelona while there are tons of markets selling fresh fruits and meats along with flower stalls being spread dow ..read more

Hello, good people reading the Jaspers Abroad Blog!     Finn here, I'm writing from Madrid, Spain, where I'm lucky enough to be studying abroad for the next three months. I'd like to first say thank you to the family and friends of Major John H. Mark, as his scholarship, the Major John H. Mark Scholarship, allowed me to be here right now.      The first three weeks have gone by very quickly. After getting settled in at my dorm (an awesome place, by the way) we started classes. All of the classes I am taking right now are quite small, which I like because the ..read more
