I am going into my 10th year teaching, all of which is in Kindergarten. I teach at a Catholic School in Woodbridge, Ontario (about 20 minutes north of Toronto). I have a combined class of both Junior and Senior Kindergarten students (pre-k and k). I come to school each day with a huge smile on my face and so do my students.

Back to school is just around the corner! If you've been following me here on the blog, or on social media, you know I've been a kindergarten teacher my entire career (nearly 20 years!). Well....some BIG news is coming...this school year I will be transitioning to the Teacher-Librarian position at my current school (half time) and another school (half time).
I'm so excited to start this new journey and share my plans with you!
As I begin to think about the Library Learning Commons space, one of the areas I plan on setting up right from the beginning of the school year for the students t ..read more

Happy Father's Day to all the father-figures in our lives!
Our students were busy over the past few weeks creating a poster and keychain!
We also put on our Growing Celebration last Friday to celebrate all of our amazing kindergarten students!
We have two weeks left of school and I'm not going to lie...this is probably THE most challenging time of the year! The weather is HOT (remember, no air conditioning in schools!), we have to start cleaning and packing our classroom and there are nearly 30 students in our classroom to keep entertained while doing that! AHHHH! Some days are mor ..read more

It's the Victoria Day long weekend here in Canada and so far the weather has been beautiful. In fact, tomorrow is warming up so much I *may* just have to take a dip in the pool (hence why I'm posting this today and taking the next two days off HA!)
Last week we explored colour mixing by introducing primary and secondary colours.
We used coloured water and eye droppers to mix primary colours and see what happens! The students LOVED this!
We are continuing with our Colour Inquiry by making our own paint colours using the primary colours in a squirt bottle.
We also sang along to the Hail M ..read more

Ummmm anyone else surprised by how quickly this school year is going?
It's already May!!!???!!!
Last week was Earth Day and we spoke a lot about ways we are stewards of the Earth.
We used the ChatterPix Kids app to create public service announcements highlighting ways we can help take care of our world.

It's Earth Day this Monday (April 22) and we have planned a few activities around that (see below).
Our grade 6 Learning Buddies spend time with us each week. This week we will be going outside with them on an Earth Day scavenger hunt!

Here are a few other things you may like for Earth Day!
In religion our focus is on how we can be stewards of the Earth. We will be using these cards to play a game to discuss and then we will work in groups to create posters showing how we can help our planet.
