I had some fluid build up in my knee 2 weeks ago and i haven’t been able to walk or do much. I’ve had bakers cysts in the past where I get a bunch of fluid in my knee and then eventually my ankles/calf’s are swollen, it’s annoying as hell. This time the knee swelling is so bad that it’s tender to the touch.
42m I coach soccer and used to play a lot. Have had RA since basically birth, I am used to the flare ups and stiffness and everything that comes with the disease but these random injuries are frustrating.
I haven’t been healthy enough to do anything other than golf for the past 3 months or ..read more

I bought a waterpik recently but I don’t feel that it does as good of a job as standard floss. Anyone have recommendations for flossing during flares? I’m looking for something easy-to-grip (of course) and easily washed/cleaned

I need a new phone… pretty badly. I’ve been holding off for a while now. Long enough I don’t remember the exact (undiagnosed) hand difficulties I had with my previous phone (iPhone 13 Pro)
I currently have an iPhone SE 2nd Gen in a basic clear silicone case with multiple “pop socket” type things so I can attempt to hold and use it comfortably. It’s not really working out the best for me, to say the least!
I will attempt to upload a photo holding different objects for size reference.
What phone would y’all suggest? I just began treatment for RA(Jan 24) and Chronic Lyme disease(July 23) and I h ..read more

As in the title, what do you do daily that helps with the dull routines of daily living? These days, making the bed causes me to wince so I've changed up my bedding (a duvet means a simple sheet straighten and duvet fluff). I'm thinking of getting groceries delivered, and I have a robot vacuum. I'm not obsessively clean but I do find that living "normally" does help me feel more in control.
I would love to hear any tricks that you've found that stop you (well, that might stop ME) from feeling like a useless slug.
Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
I recently had ultrasounds which showed synovitis and synovial thickening in my wrist and on finger joints. On Thursday I'm going to pay out of my own pocket to get more on my knees, ankles and toes which also cause me bother as I fear stalling this any longer.
I've had "bad joints" for many years. Especially my knees.
RF, Anti CCP, ERP, ESR etc etc were all negative. Not even slightly raised by the sounds of it.
I read a report that seronegative people only achieve remission less than 20% of the time vs 60% for seropositive and now I'm terrified, as I'm only 31 and feel like I will b ..read more

I'm wondering how you with seronegative RA got your diagnosis? Did your doctor go on pain alone or was it something else? What was the symptoms that made it clear it was RA?

After what felt like being sick for basically 6 months straight (thanks Humira) my rheumatologist decided that Orencia infusions would be a better option. The thing is, I’ve been waiting for 2 weeks for insurance to make a decision. Meanwhile, I’ve been off of Humira for about 5-6 weeks and I’m miserable.
I don’t see many people talking about Orencia infusions. Do they work? I’m basically trying to get by right now on prednisone, meloxicam, and voltaren gel. My ability to do anything other than go to work and sleep is nonexistent. (Although actually sleeping is kind of nice because when I’m no ..read more

Hi, I was recently diagnosed in October 2023 and have been on hydroxychloroquine 400mg every day. It is the high end of a dosage for someone my weight. I was able to taper off prednisone end of January. And since then I have had 3 flare ups, once in February then again early March, and now again I am currently experiencing another flare up. Each flare up I am put back on a prednisone taper, and so I feel better for a few weeks and then the process starts all over again. Is this normal to have this happen? My rheumatologist had stated we might need to try another DMARD. I was really hoping tha ..read more

im still on plaquenil and roughly on it for 30 days, i self decreased from 300 to 200 due to getting a lot of palpitations.
its been messing with my emotions a lot, i am diagnosed bipolar. i feel much flatter while on it and i dont feel as satisfied from successes. i was warned that i must monitor my emotional state very carefully however theres newer studies out that say "plaquenil has no psychiatric risk"
so, tldr, does plaquenil also mess with yall
[i am in treatment, have safety plans in place and meet monthly with my psychiatrist and get routine blood testing]

Suck it RA hands!!! Did an hour and my joints are still feeling fine now. This is 9 months since diagnosis. Not red/inflamed or swollen like last time I did it after 3 months since diagnosis.
I was so sad/depressed when I got RA postpartum and thought I could never take my kid out to all the places I’ve wanted to kayak with her eventually (like pictured rocks in Michigan).
First time I’ve kayaked in rainy weather! So much fun lol. I don’t mind getting wet. Made the lake choppier so I enjoyed the challenge.
It started out with a light drizzle and then towards the end of my time, it was a heavy ..read more
