An easy and versitile way to cook quinoa. This is a great vegetarian summer recipe, perfect as a main meal or as a side dish. Roasted Corn & Veggie Quinoa Roasted vegetable quinoa is my favourite way to serve quinoa. It is simple to make and a really easy ‘all in one’ dish to serve and eat. My boys also eat more veggies when they have been roasted and added to quinoa so I take advantage of that during the summer months when they are less keen to eat vegetables in a salad. How to cook quinoa I have always found that a general rule of 1 part quinoa to 2 parts liquid works best. Cup measures ..read more

Apple and Cinnamon French Toast How much do you love French toast? Apple and Cinnamon French Toast is quite literally the breakfast of my dreams! I have spent whole days thinking about and waiting for breakfast or brunch, lunch or dessert to come around so that I could make this amazing recipe. If you have been following the blog for a while, you will know that I am a huge fan of St. Dalfour preserves for many reasons. Firstly, because of the vast amount of flavours there are to choose from. Secondly because of how versatile these preserves are. (I use them in lots of different recipes on the ..read more

Turkey Meatballs with Rosemary and Feta Meatballs are probably one of my favourite things to share on the blog because they are so simple and easy to make and the flavour possibilities are endless. This week I decided to make some simple Turkey Meatballs with Rosemary and Feta using only 5 ingredients and they were amazing. I find it so crazy that just a handful of ingredients can create something so delicious and flavourful. Turkey Mince Turkey mince is my ‘go to’ mince for making meatballs because it is so cheap and goes well with a lot of flavours, plus I really love the taste of it. Most s ..read more

5 ‘Non Clean’ Foods That I Eat All The Time

When I started The Kitchen Shed I was pretty specific about what I wanted the blog to be, an affordable, accessible, realistic and family friendly clean eating resource for people like me in the UK. I was inspired by blogs like The Gracious Pantry and 100 Days of Real Food and the things I learnt in Tosca Reno’s The Eat Clean Diet. I’d always been a very black & white personality type, so blogging about clean eating didn’t feel too difficult for me because all I had to do was keep to ‘the rules’ and only share recipes that fit the clean eating guidelines as I understood them. And that was ..read more

Chicken Drumsticks When did chicken drumsticks go out of fashion??! I used to eat chicken drumsticks all the time when I was a kid. My mum used to make the most amazing southern fried chicken drummers. I can remember eating them at every family party and buffet. Maybe it’s just us, but we don’t seem to eat them anymore. Everyone wants a chicken breast but chicken breasts are expensive and don’t have as much flavour. What do I serve with Garlic and Rosemary Chicken Drumsticks? Garlic and Rosemary Chicken Drumsticks are great for a simple midweek meal. You can also use them instead of roasting a ..read more

Baked Cod with Rosemary This is a really lovely light meal and it is so versatile! Just some simple cook from frozen cod baked in the oven with some fresh vegetables and herbs. I love cooked tomatoes and my boys LOVE cooked olives but courgettes and peppers would also work really well. If you wanted to make it extra fancy, you could add some minced garlic to the dish or just simply cook it with the rosemary, salt and sliced lemon wedges. What to serve with Baked Cod I really love to serve this baked cod with buttered new potatoes and salad. It also works really well with some crushed Rosemary ..read more

Cajun Salmon Recipe

Cajun Salmon I really love this recipe for salmon using my quick homemade cajun seasoning because it is packed with flavour and can be on the table in less than 20 minutes. My boys love salmon but I’m not usually very adventurous when I cook it (I just simply season it and top with lemon slices). This cajun salmon made a really nice change and everyone enjoyed it. Homemade Seasoning I really love making my own homemade seasonings. It works out a lot cheaper to make your own and it is also a lot of fun to experiment with different spices. Since I started this blog I have enjoyed making my own s ..read more
