Ask Amy: Sex offender lives in the neighborhood
The Know
by Amy Dickinson

Dear Amy: I have a neighbor who was previously convicted of a sexual offense involving a “child.” He served time in jail. I don’t know the exact circumstances, but I do understand that the term “child” may include a person as young as an infant and as old as a teenager. The sexual offender is married with two young children. I know that he and his wife want to keep his history private. However, the other neighbors around where I live are not aware of the situation and their kids play and interact with the sexual offender’s family. Do I need to inform the unknowing neighbors about his status as ..read more

Broncos coach Sean Payton on trade for QB Zach Wilson: “We saw talent”
The Know
by Ryan McFadden
6h ago
When the Broncos traded for Jets quarterback Zach Wilson earlier this week, head coach Sean Payton said the move wasn’t meant to be a smoke screen ahead of Thursday night’s NFL draft. Payton made it clear that the team was looking to add a veteran quarterback. And for weeks, he said general manager George Paton has been working with the Jets to get a deal done. “There was no specific timing. It just took a little bit of time,” Payton said after Thursday’s first round. “I know when (traded for) him (was) closer to the draft, but it could’ve very well been three weeks ago.” Denver loaded up its ..read more

The Know

Quick hits from the Nuggets’ Game 3 victory over the Lakers on Thursday night at Crypto.com Arena in the Western Conference playoffs. 1. Nuggets just stuck a dagger in the LeBron-Anthony Davis Era. Maybe no matchup in this series underscores the differences between the defending NBA champs and the Lakers right now than that of Aaron Gordon and LeBron James. While the former put up 29 points and 15 rebounds, killing L.A. on the glass, the latter seemed to check out for stretches in the second half once the Nuggs took the lead for good. Insiders think a quick postseason exit for the Lakers could ..read more

The Know

LOS ANGELES — As Nuggets and Lakers alike filtered back onto the floor and started to get shots up, the tension in the sea-level air wasn’t a feeling of unfinished business, but rather un-started. The Lakers led 53-49, but Game 3 hadn’t truly tipped off yet. Every player, coach and spectator in Crypto.com Arena understood the reality: The second half is the battleground of this series. And within two minutes of this battle, it no longer mattered that Denver trailed the entire first half, because Denver was back in front, back in charge, back in control of this Sisyphean cycle the Lakers can ne ..read more

Grading Broncos’ Day 1 of the NFL Draft: The Post’s sports staff weigh in on the first round

The Post’s sports staff weighs in with grades after the Denver Broncos drafted Oregon quarterback Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick on Day 1 of the NFL Draft. Parker Gabriel, Broncos beat writer Grade: B- The gut reaction to this pick is going to be almost entirely driven by the strength of trust in Sean Payton to pick a quarterback. The fact that Nix was the sixth of the perceived top six selected Thursday will either prove Payton and the Broncos’ evaluation process to be a terrific one or it will end up looking like desperation. That makes Nix, far from a sure bet to turn into an upper ..read more

A new survey from Insurify shows that almost 30% of American homeowners are worried about increasing home insurance rates, which are expected to continue rising through 2024 due to climate disasters and inflation. Renck: With selection of Bo Nix, Broncos’ Sean Payton stakes potential Hall of Fame bid on Oregon quarterback
The Know
by Troy Renck

Bo Nix, you’ve got next. The Broncos’ eight-year quarterback nightmare added its latest contestant, a precision passer who nearly won the Heisman after transferring from Auburn to Oregon. Quack is not whack. Nix brings experience. At 24, he is not your normal rookie. He is mature and married. Most kids who spend this long in college leave as PhDs, not as QBs. His tree rings are a good thing. Nix is smart and dedicated, and his 61 college starts, most in FBS history, will microwave his NFL transition. My phone blew up Thursday with predictions that the Broncos would take J.J. McCarthy or Michae ..read more
