Becoming a PT without a degree?

TLDR: Can I become a PT while still doing a statistics degree? I would like to know about how the process and routes look, both for Canada, America or wherever you are. I am studying Stats but am morbidly curious to make a swap without spending 10 years studying, considering I am totally able to learn things fast if I need to. Would love a fast track or even non-university route, I can definitely deal with it if it exists. Context: I am studying Statistics in Toronto as a first year. I have been dealing with my knees and doing my physio since I was 13 or 14. I have had a long journey, which I ..read more

Hi all I'm currently working two roles my own practice which I'm building up and my full time private role at a local hospital. This is taking up so much of my time and I'm hoping to phase into full time at my own practice. How many of you have done this successfully? Any advice and tips? My main goals are long term : being able to be more flexible with my hours Be able to have more quality time with my family. Have longer sessions with my clients rather then rush them through sessions. Provide better value for patients who might otherwise be going through medical insurance. At the moment I'm ..read more

Hi everyone I am a new grad and will see a patient who has had a pec repair There is no specific protocol and the consultant only advised to avoid heavy lifting for 3 months I guess that as for every other tendon repair initially it is important to protect the surgical repair, manage swelling / pain etc. How would you address initial rehab? AROM into ER, flexion and abduction to gradually increase the range of motion? TIA submitted by /u/Local_Following_7478 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi all, if anyone knows of good resources with lifting techniques (specifically for arms and wrists, please let me know. Im a warehouse pick packer and do a lot of heavy lifting. I wear wrist straps to prevent wrist pain, because they're a bit weak for the weight Im moving, but since work has upped my hours they havent helped much. The crates I move have horizontal handles, so when held in front of me, my wrists are bent, which doesnt seem right. submitted by /u/nonmathsexpert [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi folks, I have a question. I have a job-specific aptitude test coming up for my physiotherapy degree, where I am required to verbally instruct patients without showing any movement. Do you have any tips / tricks on how to explain things easily? I would be happy to receive any literature on this. Thanks in advance :) submitted by /u/Hoebi [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi Everyone, I have the dilemma of deciding whether I go to UofA or UofS to get a masters in physiotherapy. I have heard great things of each program. Curriculum and costs are so close that it is difficult to differentiate between the two. I am not from Edmonton nor Saskatoon, I am more familiar with Edmonton itself but I am open to moving wherever. One thing that I am considering is that it would be cheaper to live in Saskatoon, but this is not a deal breaker on which program I choose. I'm hoping anyone familiar with either program can give some insights? What did you like/dislike? How are t ..read more

As a foreigner living in the UK for 2 years, I am looking for a way to get my qualification as a Physiotherapist in the UK. As my experience is not as enough as to apply for the qualification, only 1 year in abroad, I thought enrolling a master degree would ease my process. The tough part is I'm not sure If I'm eligible for UK students fee whilst enrolling a master degree. Otherwise, I have to pay huge amount of money, which is impossible. Anyone knows which criteria should be for paying the UK Fees?(I'm settled in the UK via dependant visa) submitted by /u/fsociety939 [visit reddit] [commen ..read more
