On location in Arizona and Utah with the Canon RF 14-35mm Lens, we experienced an adventure in landscape photography made to match all of its capabilities. Canon’s latest RF is a 35mm ultra-wide-angle zoom lens, which we found to be the perfect complement to the EOS R series mirrorless cameras.   We were eager to get the new RF 14-35mm out on an adventure to experience all the capabilities of this full-range lens. Jumping on board with Samy’s Photo School’s Director of Education, Roui Israel, and Canon project educator, Jeff Leimbach, we began our quest to seek out and capture some of Am ..read more

Where did the year go? 2019 is upon us – meaning it’s a time to reflect on the year gone by. It’s also a time to celebrate what’s ahead in the new year. However, as New Year’s Eve approaches, it also means that the holiday season is coming to a close. And for many, the months of November and December mark a special time of the year. One reason why the Holidays are pretty awesome, particularly in Southern California, can be found in Anaheim. Of course, we are talking about Disneyland. Shot with the Nikon Z 7 The folks over at Disney take the holidays pretty seriously. Local pass holders&nb ..read more

Someone all Photographers Need to Know! Portrait in Paris I had a fascinating afternoon recently interviewing Daniel Miller, the founder of YourDailyPhotograph.com, and Duncan Miller Gallery.  Miller is internationally recognized for owning one of the largest collections of fine art photographs.  His vast knowledge of both vintage and contemporary photographs was apparent during our conversation, and YourDailyPhotograph has exposed many art photographers to their first sale. What brought you to the world of art photography? It was the late 90s and I owned a music ..read more

Can the Sony Alpha a7R IV Do it All? While most cameras perform quite well for various creative image-making tasks, manufacturers design, develop, and promote many models for specific applications:  sports action, wildlife, low light Astro, landscape, and other niches. However, the camera is still in high demand due to its large sensor and versatile capabilities. We ..read more

Featured Photo Credit: krblokhin via iStock I’ve been a Nikon shooter for the longest time. Only recently have I branched out to other brands. I’ve had several Sony camera over the years – the a6400 among them. I also have a Panasonic GH5. But the newest camera in my collection is the Canon EOS R. And so far, and as I explain in the video above, it has certainly impressed! In fact, I think this camera is a bit of a sleeping giant. It’s a bit unassuming, but it’s packed with excellent features. Let’s dive into this camera so I can detail some of my favorite featur ..read more

Pardon my stealing my title from a very funny movie from way back in 1966, but hey, I felt it was fitting.  If you Google my name, you’ll find I’m probably known more for photographing women’s bodies. Which would be true, yet it would also be somewhat lacking accuracy. Attached to those gorgeous bodies were also extremely attractive faces; faces I also photographed with as much attention to detail as everything else in those photographs.  In fact, since my very beginning in photography, I’ve always been fascinated with photographing beauty, that being beautiful faces. So for me, I s ..read more

Last month, I highlighted the performance of the Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S on my trip to Death Valley. It was a short trip, and the first such excursion I was able to take with this lens. Now that I’ve had more time to explore its capabilities, I have a more detailed review ready for you. As I mentioned in my Death Valley article, though many folks have pondered a move to the Nikon Z6 or Nikon Z7, there has been some apprehension about the availability of glass for those cameras. I’m here to tell you that even though the selection is thin at the moment, this lens and its S-seri ..read more
