The Ring | The Bible of Boxing
by Ryan Songalia
19h ago
NEW YORK — Andy Ruiz Jr. and Jarrell Miller are proof that you don’t need to dislike one another to fight each other in a professional boxing match. The two heavyweights will essentially play out the 1999 movie “Play It to the Bone” in real life as the out-of-the-ring friends meet on August 3 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles in what is essentially a win-or-go-home situation for both fighters. Miller (26-1-1, 22 knockouts) recalled the conversation he had with Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) when he realized that they’d be sharing the ring together. “I picked the phone up and I called Andy. I said ‘ Brodie ..read more

The Ring | The Bible of Boxing
by Doug Fischer

Ryan Garcia scored the upset of the year, so far, with his dramatic 12-round majority decision over Devin Haney on April 20 in Brooklyn, New York. The Gen-Z star secured the points victory by repeatedly stunning the game-but-outgunned odds favorite and scoring three official knockdowns, however, the performance of his career was marred by his missing weight for what was supposed to be Haney’s first defense of the WBC 140-pound belt.  Haney (31-1, 15 KOs), who entered the anticipated pay-per-view main event as The Ring’s No. 1-rated junior welterweight and No. 6 in the pound-for-pound rank ..read more

Tim Tszyu-Vergil Ortiz Jr: WBA To Sanction As Interim Title Fight
The Ring | The Bible of Boxing
by Jake Donovan
2d ago
The idea behind this weekend’s showcase card was to position Vergil Ortiz Jr. for a title shot. That plan is still in play, even if for a manufactured title and the latest broken promise from the WBA. Approval was granted for an interim WBA 154-pound title to be at stake Ortiz’s announced clash versus Sydney’s Tim Tszyu. The unbeaten knockout artist still has to beat Thomas Dulorme this weekend and escape unscathed to preserve the mouthwatering matchup. Assuming the bout goes chalk, Ortiz (20-0, 20 knockouts) and Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs) will then meet as part of a stacked August 3 show. In no sma ..read more
