In Decembet I had a femoral to femoral bypass and stent for a blocked artery to my right leg. Over the past 3 months I have found many issues with food causing reactions. Mainly Histamine releasing foods like pork, cinnamon, oranges, cheese, tomatoes, and probably dairy. Before surgery I had a few CT scans of my abdomen and pelvic showing decreased blood supply to my intestines. I was 92 pounds, in my 50s, and have only gained 10 pounds since. My reactions are all over the place. Mostly mild Uticaria, petechiae, on arms, legs and sometimes my face, redness and numbness on face and eyes, also ..read more

Craving allergic foods during allergy season

All I want is coffee, which for whatever reason I have a severe igE allergy to. Yet I’m already so sick from seasonal allergies. Every other day I happily drink green tea. The consequences for drinking coffee are dire. I have sideswiped a curb a stop sign. Had to get picked up by family at a scary gas station at night. And had excruciating stomach cramps so bad I couldn’t move until my child found the benedryl. I know better. submitted by /u/No_Refrigerator3077 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Tips for navigating public school with multiple food restrictions?

My daughter is almost 5, and will be going to (USA) kindergarten in the autumn. She has EOE, not anaphylactic/systemic allergies, but she is extremely sensitive to her trigger foods. Those are, unfortunately for everyone involved, dairy and soy. Which are in basically everything. (RIP our grocery bill lol ?) She's sensitive even to the point of highly refined soy oil and soy lecithin being a problem for her, and same with dairy-derived but technically "nonallergenic" ingredients. I'm wondering if anyone has tips for me as a parent of how to navigate public school for a very young child with f ..read more

Does negative blood test mean I don’t have food allergy?

Hi! I have bad seasonal allergies. I’ve noticed some weird reactions when eating nuts (not peanuts) where my inner ears itch, my throat itches a little, and my lips feel a little tingly (may be a little swollen but nothing very noticeable). I’ve never had any food allergies in my life before and neither do my siblings/parents. My allergist ordered an allergy blood test to check for seasonal allergies and tree nut allergies. My seasonal allergies basically matched my previous skin test. The blood test for tree nut allergy was completely negative for all nuts. Does that mean I don’t have an all ..read more

Weird (not dangerous) reaction to foods, does this sound like an allergic reaction or something else?

First just to clarify, I have spoken to a doctor about this, and they hadn't heard of this kind of reaction, but said the fact that it goes away so quickly makes it sound like it's not an allergy, but I can't think of what else it could be. Anyone ever heard of a reaction like this? So for several years now I've had this weird inconsistent reaction to eating some foods. I'll eat something and within a minute or so, a painful stinging area forms in the back of my throat made up of tiny little pinprick blisters. If I stop eating the food as soon as it starts, they'll go away in anywhere from a ..read more

Ate eggs my whole life without a problem. Had eggs pretty frequently for breakfast (scrambled or over easy). One day about two months ago, I ate them and got pretty sick. Didn't think it was the eggs, because I always eat eggs without a problem. A few days later, had eggs again. Same thing. Still didn't think of the eggs. This went on for weeks. Kept trying to figure everything else out and never looked at the eggs. Finally, one morning I ate eggs and within five minutes of eating them was violently ill. Sharp pressure and pain in the middle top of my abdomen. Right below where breast bone en ..read more

Garlic allergy

I am allergic to garlic on allergy tests. But if it’s been cooked a long time I have just some mild dizziness. If it’s powdered garlic in a processed food maybe indigestion. However fresh lightly sautéed garlic like on some vegetables I feel like blacking out almost instantly. Anyone else? submitted by /u/No_Refrigerator3077 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

See any common allergens on this ingredient list?

My 18 y/o daughter had a mild anaphylactic reaction to something in this. Luckily, she had just put it in her mouth to suck on, not swallow and was able to spit it out rather quickly once her throat started closing. After that, she dry heaved a couple times and her throat started to open back up. Then she just felt generally unwell the rest of the day. Strangely, I don’t see anything on this ingredient list that she’s unlikely to have NEVER had? I know allergies can arise at any time, but I guess, is there a common allergen or likely culprit on here that I’m missing? Doc has been called ..read more
