Northwest Driftwood Artists is a non-profit organization devoted to teaching the LuRon method and providing a showcase for the sculptures of our members. We do not sell sculptures through this website. . . Much to the dismay to some of our website visitors. But we are happy to link to those NWDA members who independently set up shop in the cyber world! Long time NWDA member and extraordinary sculpture artist, Jan Petzel has launched a new website and we invite you to check it out. It is a stylish and comprehensive website and we’re sure you will enjoy the trip to MyKnottyWood.com ..read more

At our monthly NWDA meeting we got an opportunity to hear from some of the artists about their winning sculptures. There were some pretty fun stories behind some of these sculptures. We’ve been featuring one a day on our Facebook page. If you’re on Facebook, be sure to “like” us to see those sculptures. Otherwise, check out the 2015 sculptures here. As a special treat, Lorene Thorne and Jeannette Cline showed us what we could do with just a few flowers to make stunning floral arrangements. You really should come to the meetings. No matter what kind of woodworker you are, intense, or just casual, you HAVE to take care of your lungs. You damage yourself and shorten your quality of life by breathing wood dust. It is an accumulative process. You may feel fine today and tomorrow and many tomorrows after that. But when you reach a certain level of lung damage, there is no going back. Carole Rothman is the author of several books. (Several that this webmaster has) She is an amazing woman and this is an important video on how to handle dust in the workshop ..read more

Chadd is a long time NWDA member who has won many, many awards for his work and in these 2 videos he shares his expertise. In 4-way Files, Rasps and Microplanes Chadd share the techniques he uses to quickly and efficiently clean a wood sculpture. This video focuses on the microplane. We hope to have him share his techniques on the rasps and files in a more in-depth manner later on. LuRon sculptures must be clean and have a natural, satin finish ..read more
