Hey folks, Jarrod here. Don’t worry, we haven’t been hacked! Instead, we’ve got some big news for you. As of today, The Muppet Mindset is no more. Founded in 2009 by Ryan Dosier, the site has published more than 2800 articles, and today this is the last. But do not stress – as the title of this page tells you, The Muppet Mindset has merged with ToughPigs.com, and instead of running this site alone, I’ll take on a leadership position over there alongside my friends Joe Hennes and Ryan Roe. They have been very generous to offer me the chance to be a key part of a website I’ve been reading since ..read more

The Muppet Show Is Coming To Disney+
The Muppet Mindset

Jarrod Fairclough – Last week The Muppets sent the internet into a frenzy when they released this tweet: Calling all Muppet fans! Get ready for a major and important Muppet announcement coming soon. What is it? We have no idea. — The Muppets (@TheMuppets) January 14, 2021 What it could have been? People were all aflutter. Maybe they were going to make that Great Gatsby idea someone floated a few weeks ago (that we had first but we won’t mention it again). Maybe they would announce a new series of car air fresheners that smelled of elderberry. Sorry, elderberry fans, it’s not that at all. T ..read more

Gonger: The Best Muppet To Toy Adaptation
The Muppet Mindset
by Jarrod Fairclough

Jarrod Fairclough – Over on Twitter about a month ago I made a startling realization. I noticed that every single piece of merchandise of Sesame Street’s Gonger was incredible. Not just incredible, but by far the best I think I’ve ever seen, and consistently so. Muppet fans have been checking out ugly Muppet merch for years. ToughPigs had a running series for years, and we had our own Little Shop Of Horrors series a couple of years back. God knows that puppets can be extremely difficult to make look good. And why is that? Muppets are so simple. Aside from perhaps Kermit, who’s head shape is ..read more

The Top 10 Songs of: 2020
The Muppet Mindset

Kieran Moore – So, 2020 was a thing… I’m not sure there’s much point in me sounding off about the current state of the world. After all, I think we can agree the last 12 months will likely have their own chapter in just about every history book published from now on. What is unlikely to get a mention however is the incredible work of The Muppets, Sesame Workshop and The Jim Henson Company during 2020 – and that’s where I can redress the balance. It’s been a pretty good year for felt, fur and foam. Muppets Now debuted, becoming the first Weekly Muppet Show in 5 years – that’s one for the histo ..read more

Jarrod Fairclough – It’s January 5th, so of course it’s time to talk about Christmas, as it’s just around the corner. We put out the call last week to Muppet fans, asking what fun stuff they got for the holidays, and there’s some really great stuff. Let’s dive in, shall we? Alison recieved the extremely cool Sesame Street LEGO set! Becca got a cool monster tree topper. How is this Muppety, you ask? It was built by our pal and Sesame Street puppeteer Stacey Gordon! Chris got this awesome Kermit tee and a 2021 Disney World pin – hey, Disney remembered The Muppets exist! Dylan got the Sesame Str ..read more

Move Right Along Into 2021
The Muppet Mindset

Jarrod Fairclough – Happy New Year, Muppet fans! 2020 was a dumpster fire of a year, so fingers are crossed 2021 is a heck of a lot better. And the signs are positive that that’s the case, as Kermit and Fozzie have reunited (virtually) for a rendition of their old song ‘Movin Right Along’ from The Muppet Movie, and it’s maybe the best thing I’ve seen this year #WockaWocka. Enjoy some seriously impressive puppetry and camera tricks, and what is likely Eric Jacobson’s real car ..read more

Jarrod Fairclough – 2020 has been a dumpster fire, hasn’t it? Chaos reigns supreme. If only we had more of The Muppets on our TV screens. Well, luckily, that’s happening tonight! The Muppets are taking ESPN and helping out on tonights game, Steelers vs Bengals, at 8pm EST. Piggy and Kermit will be in the broadcast booth, while Fozzie reports from the field. The rest of the gang will be there too, with Statler and Waldorf facing off as their teams compete against each other. You can read more in this press release by Kermit; Hi ho, Kermit the Frog here. For tonight’s Monday Night Football ga ..read more

The Top 10 Songs of: Yin and Yang Christmas
The Muppet Mindset
by Jarrod Fairclough

Kieran Moore – Christmas. As the song says, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. Sure, you might be a huge fan of Hallowe’en or Thanksgiving, or even National Artichoke Day (which I totally just made up, but does exist apparently); but are any of these as wonderful as Christmas? No. I’m not here to get bogged down in talking about how this Christmas is going to be difficult – because heaven knows we’re bombarded by that statement every time we watch TV or listen to the radio or go online and quite frankly it does us no good, but I do acknowledge there’s a good chance we’ll be celebrati ..read more

The Muppet Christmas Carol Is A Horror Movie
The Muppet Mindset
by Jarrod Fairclough

Jarrod Fairclough – With Christmas just a couple of weeks away, I recently sat down to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol. It’s a classic – Michael Caine turns in an Oscar worthy performance as Scrooge, Steve Whitmire does a great job in his first major appearance as Kermit the Frog, and The Ghost of Christmas Present cements himself as one of, if not THE best, one-off characters in the franchise. But, I can’t help but shake the feeling that this well beloved Christmas classic might actually fall under a different genre – I put it to you that The Muppet Christmas Carol is, by definition, a horr ..read more
