As we buzz into March, we’re met with anticipation and enthusiasm for what lies ahead. Our next meeting is Wednesday March 13th at 5:40pm WICOMICO PUBLIC LIBRARY. As fall approaches, it’s time to think about winter prep. Your colonies are already starting to raise the winter bees that will carry your hives through the winter months. It’s important that those bees are healthy to ensure their survival. Perform mite counts and treat where necessary. Do not treat when mite counts are low, as this can promote tolerance to treatments. Feed 2:1 sugar syrup to colonies light on food stores to make sure they have an ample supply to get them through until spring. The Lower Eastern Shore Beekeepers will be holding their Spring Beekeeping Forum on April 16th, 2022 (rain date April 23rd, 2022) from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
This year we will be outdoors in the large field behind Holly Center and MAC Center.
