If I can see this glow from space, what are the odds it's not radioactive?

I got this from a seller I've done a good bit of business with who has a lot of old stock pieces, whether jasper, agate, glass, or otherwise. He doesn't know anything about the origins of this piece and classified it as slag glass. I don't need an ID since it's (believed to be) slag glass and I'm hoping this is acceptable to post here. I know a little bit about slag glass but it's just the bare basics. I've read that it can be formed in nature but is mainly from smelting, but I've also seen articles say it can't form naturally. Either way I'm clueless. It will be coming in the mail short ..read more

Is there any connection between mineral fluorescence and animal behavior? I started thinking about this when in class we talked about a snail that if found where the bedrock is limestone. I realize a lot of animals can see fluorescence, and the bedrock is important to what minerals are available to the ecosystem. There’s an area near where I live where there is an eroded calcite vein (so just chunks of it are on the surface) that is green under shortwave UV. Could that tell an animal that there is potentially food because of an organism that uses calcite? I’m terrible at explaining my questio ..read more

While the Bonneville Flood is the most famous event related to Lake Bonneville, there were also other lake-related floods and massive tsunamis during its history, and an environmental disaster: the fall from the Provo Level where the lake went from a freshwater lake to a seasonal pond in ~100 years.
