Thyroid ultrasound?

I recently got diagnosed as hyperthyroidism at the ER after they ran bloodwork. I went to my PCP to get a referral to an endocrinologist and they ordered a thyroid ultrasound. Is this routine/what is it for? I googled it and it seems like it’s not common for just a hyperthyroidism diagnosis, so I’m curious as to what to expect and why I’m getting it. Thanks! submitted by /u/m0mumental24 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Voice recovery - normal to improve and worsen a little some days?

Hi all, (I did post this in /thyroidectomy but just noticed it’s a very small group and not had any reply, so trying in here ?) I had total thyroidectomy 6 weeks ago and still have a hoarse voice. Surgeon is confident it is temporary neuropraxia on the left laryngeal nerve. It is improving but sometimes it will revert to being bad for a day or a few hours, while still generally on an improving trend. Anyone else been through this? Is it normal get get worse and then better again? Thanks! Nick submitted by /u/NickRoggster [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Since June I’ve had one TSH that was above 1. Today my TSH is .44 could this indicate anything? Symptoms are labeled blood pressures, the worst anxiety you can think of, complete brain fog, I’m basically a walking zombie. submitted by /u/Positive-Ordinary861 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help Understanding Ultrasound Results for Nodules

Just had surgery to remove my gallbladder and had to go to the ER shortly after for problems, during that time they did a CT Scan and found nodules on my thyroid. I had an ultrasound today. Could someone help me understand these results? Does this mean I may have a high risk of cancer? I've also had bloodwork done this month (TSH With Reflex To Free T4) and results are: 2.197 (Normal). This has been trending down since 2022. I had 2 previous blood tests with 3.602 in Nov. 2022 and 2.492 in Jan 2024. Any help would be immensely appreciated. Impression Thyroid gland: Mildly heterogeneous thyr ..read more

What Now?

Had some health issues over the past year so I went to see my primary and she ran lots of tests. Long story short, my thyroglobulin antibodies are elevated but everything else is totally normal. She sent me for an ultrasound and everything appeared normal on that as well. Why would my thyroglobulin be elevated with no other visible issues? It’s so frustrating because I feel like I keep hitting dead ends. submitted by /u/Master_Mango8435 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi everyone, I want to start this by saying I do have an appointment booked for in two days time so please don't worry! I've been having ongoing health problems going back to my teen years (I'm 26 for reference), recurring ear infections, ear ache, swollen glands (only on one side), weight loss, weight gain, fatigue, muscle pains, hair loss - I've been fobbed off with everything under the sun, fibromyalgia, anaemia, alopecia, chronic fatigue syndrome, recurring infections, shingles, etc, but no one really does any tests. I'll have a blood test, and be told nope its all fine, but then when I l ..read more

Question understanding labs

So my TSH was 0.02 and my T3 was 4.38 and my T4 was 1.62, since I have low TSH and almost high T4 and T3, I read I have Subclinical hyperthyroidism, which some physicians don’t do anything for, but I do have a lot of symptoms for hyperthyroidism (tachycardia, sweating, weight loss, intolerance of heat, frequent #2’s, hair loss, painful thyroid, etc.) and my mother has hashimoto’s. I guess I’m asking if anyone thinks they will actually treat it or wait and see as they say. I’m already taking a beta blocker for some of the symptoms but it doesn’t help all of them. I go in for my diagnosis tomor ..read more

Bad batch of NP?

I was increased to 30 mg of NP and took it 90 days and my numbers looked great. I lost five pounds after not being able to lose for over a year. My next batch smelled like cat pee and seemed darker. I gained the five back and my numbers were down like 30 points at my next 90-day checkup. Could the cat pee batch have been duds? Should I return them if I get them again? The batch I got a few weeks ago seems normal. submitted by /u/HoneyBadgerHatesYou [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
