Launch of NIHR funded national trial for thyroid cancer A new nationwide trial has launched in the UK for patients with low-risk thyroid cancer, which aims to compare the recurrence rates of patients who undergo two different types of thyroid surgery following diagnosis. The HoT trial (‘Hemithyroidectomy or Total Thyroidectomy in ‘low-risk’ thyroid cancers’) is a major project funded by the National Institute of Health Research Health Technology Assessment (NIHR HTA).
