The best way to get into ketosis isn't always fast. Sure, getting your carbs down low enough to trigger ketosis will quickly help you gain control over your eating habits and force your body to begin to use its fat stores, rather than glucose. But if your mindset is on fast, rather than making healthy changes, you're probably not looking at low carb as a long-term investment. Keep Reading ..read more

I get a lot of emails asking me: “What are you doing? I want to do what you're doing.” Usually, it comes from those who have stalled out on Atkins or Keto and want to try something else. But, not always. So, I thought I'd write a post on exactly what I'm eating since a diabetic diet differs from a typical low-carb diet. That way, you can see how to design your own low-carb diet. Intermittent Fasting for Shorties

Intermittent Fasting is a popular buzzword within the low-carb community, but it has actually been around for a very long time. Originally debuting as the Warrior Diet in 2002, this decades-old, alternative eating, cyclic approach to dieting puts the focus on when you eat instead of what and how much. I haven't talked about IF very much. This is because it's often recommended to newbies by low-carb dieters, and I totally do not agree with that advice. When you're first learning how to trim your carbs and get the pounds coming off, that's not the time to be skipping meals. Intermittent Fas ..read more

Email Notifications are Going Away

Here's a head's up: Google recently notified me that starting in July, Feedburner is no longer going to send out automatic email notifications whenever a new post is published. This means: If you signed up to receive those email notifications, you won't be receiving them any more starting in July 2021. This is extremely inconvenient for those of you who like receiving these notifications. I get that. Dropping by the blog, now and then, to see if I've published anything new is going to be a pain. It also makes it more difficult for me to follow through with the idea of consolidating my ..read more

Hubby and I have spent the last month trying to hunt down Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry without success. It just wasn't to be found anywhere in our area. There's been some original Diet Dr. Pepper and something called Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar, but not a single bottle of cherry-flavored Dr. Pepper. On a whim, I decided to try adding 2 squirts of sugar-free raspberry flavored Torani syrup to the original Diet Dr. Pepper that we were able to find. It worked great and got rid of that funky aftertaste that all diet sodas have.Keep Reading ..read more

Black soybeans have been a staple for many serious low-carb dieters over the years. I used to use them way back in 1999, when I was following the original Atkins Diet, so Eden Organic Black Soybeans have been around for a very long time. Back then, I could only find them at a health-food store or buy the dried version directly from Eden Foods, but today, both varieties are available online at Amazon, Netrition, VitaCost, and even at many local supermarkets, as well.Keep Reading ..read more

One of the major roadblocks people run into when considering whether to go Keto, or not, is the cost. How are you going to be able to afford to buy all of that meat?
