Hi!
I am a first timer here and have just started to experiment with lidar and slam for my school project. We are tasked to map out a room remotely.
The hardware looks like this:
Rpi connected to arduino mega
Rpi connected to RPLidar (the r2 version, which has only 6m range),
arduino mega is hooked up to wheel encoders
arduino mega is connected to motor controller which controls basic DC motor wheels.
The basic idea will be to SSH into the rpi from our laptop and run the controls from there. May I know which SLAM algorithm I should be looking to use? Thank you!

Hello, I am using a mega Arduino and PCA9685 to run 16 MG90s motors using these codes https://github.com/jgromes/ArduPod/tree/master/arduino/AP\_Utils. I tried every code no one is working I do not know what is the issue exactly but the legs do not move! ( I also tried other codes to test the motors and do not work at all)
I am using these pins from a mega Arduino to PCA9685
5V ------ VCC
GND-----GND
A4 -------SDA
A5 -------SCL
Please find the pic bellow to see more details

Hello. I am currently writing my bachelors degree project in intelligent robotic systems. I have implemented Craig Reynolds boids flocking 2D simulation in Python. Now I need to somehow make use of that algorithm for my bachelors project, I need to make it applicable for some real-life situation and get parameters which I could research. Preferably something not time-consuming because I'm running out of time already.. Maybe any of you guys could give me advice on that? Thanks in advance.

I want to build my own robot arm, I got access to all sorts of machines too so I can make desired components out of metal too
I started doing some math and research and realized that I am gonna need some motor power
I want the robot arm to be around 50cm long, and be able to lift around 2-3kg if possible
I realized that stepper motors are not that strong so I thought of maybe using DC motors? Or would it be better to try to gear down the stepper motor enough to get to the desired PL and maybe make the arm somewhat shorter
I’d appreciate any tips ofc and tomorrow gonna talk to some experienced ..read more

we are conducting a research survey to understand the needs and preferences of individuals requiring rehabilitation support after injuries or those with mobility impairments. This survey is open to everyone, regardless of personal experience with rehabilitation or assistive technologies, as we value a wide range of insights and perspectives. Your insights are crucial for enhancing our knowledge and shaping the future of rehabilitative care. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

I am currently brain storming the idea of creating a practical robotics tutorial series aimed at teaching how to build an autonomous mobile robot from the ground up, using custom code firstly for localization, perception, planning, and then ultimately building up to using ROS2 and deep learning at the end of the series.
As the name implies, "practical" means hands-on with something durable. However I am concerned that a "good" robot kit could be a barrier-to-entry for some who maybe international.
I think the waveshare robot kit is actually pretty good for this, but I remember a time for me n ..read more
