As a newbie, I am learning that meditation is also about accepting the experience that emerges, and examining that experience than trying to embrace it, ignore it, or fight it. Not just during meditation (sitting), but beyond that, in everyday life. So, if someone loses a job, why have the motivation to look for a new job? Not able to provide for your family? Why fight it, accept the experience. Getting your arms twisted in a roadside fight? Why self defend, accept the experience. I am sure I am confused here, but not sure how to resolve these conflicting thoughts?

I have been having intense physical phenomena occur during meditation/contemplative prayer, and while I genuinely enjoy them (yet, have been able to Maintain-I think-a detachment from it), I wonder if anyone has any tips on how to transcend them? This has been going on relatively consistently for the last 3-4 months, and it’s been the case that almost immediately into my beginning the practice each day I fall into and experience these intense physiological sensations. To be sure, it’s definitely more than just physical, but the physical is so apparent that I feel as though it’s hard to not no ..read more

Hi I’m relativiely new to meditation. I got it as recommended by a friend because I have ocd (intrusive thoughts most of the day and anxiety quite high) and I got the calm app, there was a deal on a year so I figured why not, I liked the 7 day course and it made me feel a lot more relaxed and for the few hours after it provided some relief.
I’ve tried therapy for my ocd and anxiety and it didn’t help. The only thing that’s helped is somatic experiencing.
Questions:
Is there a way for it to help my ocd? I.e if I do meditation for long enough will it reprogram my anxious brain automatically? Or ..read more

Firstly I started meditation for upgrade my focus and being calm. I was practicing meditation one and half year every day 10-20 mins like sitting somewhere and focussing my breath or listening sounds, hertz etc. But I realize that I can update meditation to my daily life. When I drink coffee, I just drink coffee thats all. My attentiton is in only drinking coffee. Taste of and smell of coffee, hotness or coldness of coffee. Just coffee I mean ? No more speaking brain. Thats why I stopped practicing meditation like sitting and focussing breath or listening sounds.
When I work I just do my work ..read more

Hi everyone, I’m new to meditation. After suffering some major health issues I’m trying to meditate to get rid of the PTSD issues and fear that I developed after the incident. I noticed that during an ambient music guided meditation (777) hz I got this feeling that I was falling out of my body, which freaked me out a bit. Does anyone know what that could be or mean? Thanks in advance.

I’ve always struggled with meditating, I’m new to it and I still don’t understand it completely but I do find it calming.
Today, I was following a guided meditation. I was focusing on my breath and my mind felt empty? There was not many thoughts just being.
Eventually, a thought would arise and I felt like I was observing it from a third person point of view. It would stick around as I was looking at it than It would float away. I didn’t react to it, I was just staring at it.
As I got deeper into the meditation I was visualizing myself from a third perspective, I was just laying in a field on ..read more

Sometimes I feel like we don't truly have control over our actions.
For example, any guilt that may arise from a situation, or any situation that makes us uncomfortable, will require an action to end that feeling of discomfort. In other words, somehow the status quo determines our actions.
However, the status quo is something that constantly changes, it's not static. So, it doesn't really matter if we make good or bad decisions that improve or worsen our status quo, the intrinsic feeling of wanting to improve it will always be present, whether we're actually improving it or not. In other word ..read more
