Little Miss Geisha is a brand new restaurant (opened in January 2024) with interior design influenced by the machiyas of Kyōto and authentic cuisine “that will transport you directly back to the land of the rising sun” (or so says the website), whilst also allowing you to enjoy a sweet view of the Luxembourg Garden just opposite.
That’s quite the self-confident introduction! Let’s see how our lunch there went…

Can’t say we’re huge fans of the name Little Miss Geisha, but the restaurant does seem to have a lot going for it, including a terrace overlooking the amazing Luxembourg ..read more

The buzzing rue de Buci (near our hotels) is a great choice if you’re looking for a restaurant or bar to enjoy. The street is pedestrianised, allowing for large terraces on the pavement, and there’s a wide choice of style for any budget. It’s up to you whether you people watch on the street while eating your food or get a comfy seat inside, sometimes in surprisingly big spaces…
… like Dandino, which used to be called Luigi (apparently the cold interior design and so-so pizzas did not make it a success – some reviews even mentioned mice!) So, newly decked ou in red velvet and looking like a 193 ..read more

So there’s good news and bad news.
The bad news is that one of our favourite restaurants close to our hotels closed its doors last summer.
The good news is that it reopened a month later with a new name – Oktobre – sharp new interior design (by Studio Bateaumagne), but exactly the same team including genius chef Martin Maumet, formerly associate chef and now the owner despite only being in his early thirties.
So of course we had to go down there and check – is this change a change for the better?

If you’ve always thought it would be super fun to have dinner surrounded by sharks, jellyfish and schools of fish, Under The Sea is for you! Their darkened restaurant filled with screens showing underwater scenes is quite the trip, and the food is… Well, let’s see.
It’s not often a restaurant has no windows and lighting that’s either very dark or animated like a fairground ride. Welcome to Under The Sea is a restaurant with a sound and light show attached, or perhaps a sound and light show with a restaurant attached, as you’ll soon see.
As soon you enter the space, you realise that this is ..read more

With its cosy space and new menu by chef François Gagnaire, the Clos Belle Juliette awaits you for an exceptional dinner!
Let us show you how your experience at the restaurant might go…

The Clos Belle Juliette’s main room is perfect for an intimate dinner during your stay at the hotel, and there’s also a heated terrace overlooking the garden, which is prettily illuminated for the holidays and a lovely place to sit during the warm weather.
The restaurant is also happy to accept reservations from people not staying at the ..read more

We recently worte about our lovely visit to the Bourdelle Museum near our hotels which has been recently renovated (spoiler: it’s amazing, and entrance is free). One of the new features is a restaurant situated in what used to be the apartment belonging to Rhodia Bourdelle, the sculptor’s daughter.
With its large terrace and airy main room, the restaurant looked like somewhere we just had to try out, and now we have! Here’s what we thought…

If you haven’t yet read the article about our visit to the superb Bourdelle Museum, including dozens of lush photos, we’d advise you to ta ..read more

Quai de la Photo is a new and very interesting hybrid arts space on the Seine, just in front of the BNF national library (i.e. pretty close to our hotels).
We told you about it opening back in July, saying that we were looking forward to getting down there ourselves to check out the exhibitions, bar, restaurant, etc.
And now we have! Here’s how it went (spoiler alert: rather well)…
photos: JasonW
We first went to have a look at Quai de la Photo during the day, to get a good look at the various spaces they have – a bar on the quayside with one photo exhibition, then on the water another bar ..read more

Summer just keeps on hanging on, and we’re not mad about it. Time to head for a terrace, and why not the large (double) terrace of the Maison Cluny, a new restaurant just behind the Cluny Museum (and thus, very close to our hotels), where carefully prepared and beautifully presented French cuisine awaits you.

In the tranquil side street, the restaurant’s two terraces are just next to the museum’s gardens, and you’ll feel calmed by its greenery throughout your meal.
Also, it’s not every day that you can have lunch next to a 13th century vestige!
And of course, when summer fi ..read more

Freshly opened in June, the Brasserie des Prés is a cool three-floor establishment offering French cuisine classics, cocktails and ice-cream made on-site!

We had been to this space before, but many years ago when it was something completely different, and the new radical makeover is quite a change.
The colourful restaurant runs along an historic, typically-Parisian paved passageway that just happens to have the Hotel Saint-André des Arts at one end! In the long, thin main room (which used to be the only room), one of the walls now has what looks like part of a stone tower buil ..read more

Summer is here and the parks of Paris (like the Parc Georges Brassens) are the place to be… It’s the perfect time for a picnic!
Yabaï Sando opened in early spring this year, offering gourmet Japanese sandwiches that you can eat there or take away. Time to up your picnic game with some delicious new flavours…

With the summer in full effect, having lunch on some cool grass in a park somewhere is obviously an enticing option. Unfortunately though, supermarket take-out food is often disappointing, and knowing which boulangerie is good or bad can be tricky.
