MAKING A PURPLE STATEMENT
Lion In The Wild
by Kiara King
1y ago
I’m really into purple right now, and cutouts and high slits and ultra stretch fabric for that matter, so it’s no surprise that I loved wearing this outfit. There’s also something about this time of the year that seduces me into making a statement with my style, or a purpled statement in this instance. With festive parties in full swing, I for one have been obsessing over just about everybody’s celebratory end of year fashion, and I absolutely plan on [hopefully] making some of my own. I’ve linked the exact matching set below, as well as some alternatives (on sale too!) and similar acc ..read more

Prim and Proper Meets Effortlessly Cool
Lion In The Wild
by Kiara King
2y ago
Prim and proper meets effortlessly cool is how I’d describe this outfit and, although I’m clearly neither of these things, I’m really digging the look. I’ve announced my love for a puff sleeve a good few dozen times, but have I ever told you about my crush on statement collars? Probably. Nevertheless, this Song of Style cropped cotton blouse with its scalloped hems and padded shoulders from Revolve is a dream. I styled the shirt with a pair of ultra comfortable cargo pants that aren’t really cargo pants at all. They’re far more effortless and chic and soft, trust me. I also dug up my o ..read more

Knitted Vests, Oversized Shirts and Chunky Boots
Lion In The Wild
by Kiara King
3y ago
I wonder how many times I’ve written the words ‘Chunky Boots’ in a headline. A lot is my best guess. Black boots have been a staple in my wardrobe for an age, but they seem to have only got heavier and chunkier as time goes by. Heck, once upon a time I thought my Balenciaga’s were outrageous, but now that’s just the standard. Ever since I purchased these Alias Mae boots, I actually have to convince myself to occasionally wear my other shoes. In other fashion trend news, knitted vests (formally known as waistcoats) are here to stay, especially as it only gets colder and colder here in A ..read more

A Burst of Yellow
Lion In The Wild
by Kiara King
3y ago
As you might just be able to tell from my current ‘Gram feed, I’m all about a pop of yellow right now, whether it be a subtle hint of sunshine or a bold block of the bright hue. The latter can definitely be used to describe this outfit, which combines my love for oversized shirts (they’ve been a feature here since I started blogging all those many years ago) and a burst of colour in an otherwise neutral assemble. Can we talk about those turned up cuffs in all of their dramatic goodness? See, this is why I have a zillion* shirts hanging in my wardrobe. It’s these small (or in this case ..read more

Shades of White
Lion In The Wild

Why hello there! As you can see, I’m out of my super stretchy pants and into high waisted trousers again (well, some of the time anyway). My point is, I’m clearly not sporting a watermelon of a bump anymore. In fact, I’m over three months postpartum and, my goodness, it feels so good! We’re thriving as a little family of four (including our cute-as-a-button baby and very furry cat), but I guess I’ll go more into that another time. For now though, I’m just enjoying styling outfits again minus the basketball—oh, what a challenge that was!— including this look featuring different shades o ..read more

My Go-To Stretch Mark Oil (That Actually Works!)
Lion In The Wild
by Kiara King
3y ago
The truth is, I was fully prepared to get stretch marks during my pregnancy. In fact, I had long before embraced that these tiger stripes would become another reminder of the amazing capabilities of my body during such an incredible time of change. It was as a teenager I’d experienced them for the first time; first a deep purple that seemed to cover my hips, thighs and breasts, until over the years they transformed into a shade of silvery white that I’d not only learn to accept, but love. And yet, with a proven genetic disposition for developing stretch marks, at 38 weeks pregnant ther ..read more

My New Favourite Clinique Moisturiser
Lion In The Wild
by Kiara King

When it comes to my skincare routine, I’m all about hydration, so it’s probably no surprise that I’ve been a humungous fan of the entire Clinique Moisture Surge range for years and years and years. Truthfully, there isn’t one Moisture Surge product I haven’t liked or, more importantly, my skin hasn’t loved. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, out comes the new Clinique Moisture Surge Intense 72-Hour Lipid Replenishing Hydrator, or what I like to call The Moisturiser of My Dreams. I started using the new cream gel moisturiser formula a month ago and I simply love it. Thi ..read more

Black Organza, Blue Jeans and a Red Lip
Lion In The Wild

Just when I thought I couldn’t love the combination of organza and denim any more than I already do, I find a top that throws knitted fabric into the mix. Oh my goodness, I’m in-love. Once again, I’ve styled the top down with a pair of blue denim—the Cotton On Stretch Mom Jeans in Aireys Blue, to be exact—and up again with black and gold accessories. I also decided to amplify the look with my new surprisingly comfortable black snakeskin heels, the sunglasses that keep selling out (get in quick!) and a swipe of my favourite red lipstick. Viola! The look is complete. The arrival of sprin ..read more

The Lilac Dress and White Knee High Boots
Lion In The Wild
by Kiara King
3y ago
I’ve discovered my new favourite dress and, no surprise, it’s from Rue Stiic, the Aussie label dominating my wardrobe lately. I’ve spoken about how much I love a shirt dress a zillion times here before, so it was inevitable that I just had to have this button-up lilac number in my wardrobe. Isn’t the colour just beautiful? Since we were enjoying a morning out accompanied by our favourite (and ultra chic) Mazda3, I decided to amp up my look a notch with a pair of white knee-high boots. They’re a statement, I’ll give you that much, but they’re also super comfy and surprisingly easy to we ..read more

An Oversized Shirt, Skinny Jeans and Chunky Boots
Lion In The Wild
by Kiara King

We quickly took these photos on the way to getting our daily coffee fix (you can tell I haven’t had caffeine yet – look at how tired I am, haha!). I decided to swap my tracksuit pants for jeans and slippers for Balenciaga’s, and styled it with my new Bird + Kite linen blend shirt. It’s the comfiest smock design with a front pocket feature with understated frill sleeves, but I decided to wear it tucked into the front of my jeans to elongate my legs. I’ve actually been wearing this oversized number with leggings at home a lot and it’s been a lifesaver for when I want to look like I made ..read more
