Get inspired and creative with DIY, recipes, decorating, and art. Our cottage is located on a large inland lake which is attached to four other lakes via channels. Because its only 35 minutes away from our house, we try spending as much time as we can at our cottage during the warm months because it’s on a lake, it’s rustic and we love it.

Additional Books To Add To Your Reading List. This is a partial list and I’ll list a few more in another week or so. I have no idea how they got left out because they’re all very good!

On another note, there’s been some activity going on behind the scenes making it harder for me to keep up with my blog postings.   ..read more

I hope many of you were able to enjoy the solar eclipse this past Monday. Here in Grand Rapids, they originally said we would see 90%, but there was a good chance of clouds and/or rain. This was going back quite a few weeks. As it got closer to April 8, they said 94% of the sun would be covered and it was looking more favorable for good weather. You have to understand the west side of Michigan, especially here in Grand Rapids.   ..read more

Spring officially arrived last evening and here in Michigan, it was officially greeted with snow. So technically, today is the first full day of spring! I hope you’re all having a better spring day than we are

After we had some beautiful 70 degree temps, I decided to decorated our house for spring and especially for Easter.   ..read more

I decided it was probably beyond time to write Tuesday’s Tidbits again. This is Tuesday’s Tidbits No. 14. It’s been almost 4 years ago to the day when I wrote my last Tuesday’s Tidbits No. 13. Do you remember receiving them? I started my first one in 2018 but after the last one I wrote in March 2020 is when I started to fall apart. Between my sciatic nerve, the pandemic and my stomach issues and surgery, time just got away from me.   ..read more

I know it’s been quite awhile since I shared any of my latest favorite reads with all of you. As in nothing since the end of May, 2023! I’ve read many books throughout the summer, fall and winter; but I’m only sharing some of my favorites. Some were religious, some were lent to me by neighbors up at our cottage and were quite resqué. So I’ve narrowed these books down to just a few for your enjoyment ..read more

We all heard what the rodent said about spring coming early; but regardless, sometimes we need making the best of winter as we possibly can until it’s gone!
Michigan is a beautiful state, even in winter! Mr. Cottage had a snowmobile and we even skied. Then somewhere along the way we started getting away to a warmer location, either a cruise or a trip to Florida, even Las Vegas when he had conventions to attend.   ..read more

What are some of your winter doings when you can’t get out because of the weather? Such has been the case with me ever since we had started with the snow in early January.

Just letting you know The Red Painted Cottage is still here! It’s actually been a very restful and enjoyable time, but I’m finally back to blogging for 2024.

Unfortunately, we just had and are still having lots of snow, winds and freezing temperatures. Currently we have 18-24 inches of snow and it’s still snowing.   ..read more

Christmas 2023 is just around the corner! I’ve started shopping, but still have a ways to go. This time of year is always a busy one for most of us. Bible study took up much of my time with intensive studies, but I learned so much and made new friends. It will start up again in January, but I don’t want to take a chance of driving or walking on the snow or ice. I’ve had enough falls and issues with my back, so I’ll wait until next fall ..read more

Where has all the time gone? We just celebrated Vivienne’s fourth birthday last Tuesday, and Thanksgiving is only a little over one week away! And now there’s Christmas music on the radio stations! Yikes!
