Negative result after assault

I was assaulted in February of this year. A man I went on a date with forced himself on me without protection. Thankfully this man is facing a trial in a few weeks and will be getting locked away, another girl also came forward. After this happened and I reported him to the police, I became extremely ill around 1 month later. High fever, the shakes, flu like symptoms, weight loss, headaches, body aches, oral thrush, muscle fatigue, and joint pain. I assumed it was the flu or covid but after 2 weeks it wasn’t getting better and I went to the doctors. They had no idea, I’d already had some test ..read more

I’ve been on Biktarvy for about a month now and just received my test results back. Undetectable! Went from a viral load of 1630 to <20 in a month. I feel like such a huge weight is off my chest and I just wanted to share :) It’s amazing to finally have some good news. submitted by /u/TrickyAd6945 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Why is there no cure for HIV?

Hi! Today I started to dive deeper into the whole HIV topic. I got great perspectives from some really kind users on this subreddit (a million thanks to them!). I just read about two men who were actually cured from HIV stage 3. They had leukemia and received bone marrow transplantations from people who were apparentely immune to HIV because of a genetic mutation. Would it not be possible to get more genetic material of them, if they would agree of course, and grow artificially more of their cells? And then transplant them to HIV infected people? I know, the donator and the receiver need to h ..read more

Hi. I have a question about INZ's medical regulations for work visa. Currently, I have an approved visitor visa (approved 2023) and have visited NZ twice since my family is already residing in NZ. I recently got a job offer from an accredited employer and we are now working to file the AEWV (Accredited Employer Work Visa). Factors: I am a person living with HIV. I have been diagnosed last year, 2023 (after the release of the visitor visa) but recently, 2024, became undetectable and living healthy. I have all the medical history and papers proving my body is okay and my viral load is untransmi ..read more

Can AIDS be treated?

Hi! I'm researching about AIDS and already asked some questions in this subreddit. I have another one: Can AIDS be treated? I get that there are 3 stages of HIV and while you are on stage 1 or 2, medication can prevent AIDS. I also get that AIDS depends on the individual, but lets say a person was tested positively with the CD4 test and has less than 200 cells per mm. Does treatment at this point still work and will the white blood cells then recover? Or does it only work on stage 1 and 2? If the person gets treatment on stage 3, will they go back to stage 2? I can't find anything on google ..read more

At what point do most people notice their infection and what if not?

Hi there! I'm researching for a school presentation but can't find anything on google for those two topics: When do most people notice that they've got HIV? Stage 1? Stage 2? After how many years? Because they feel sick or "accidentally" with a regular test? Are there any stats? Does it happen, in western countries (I don't refer to third world countries with bad health options), that people don't notice they have HIV till stage 3 and they actually do get AIDS? Or would you notice before? And can you only stop it with medication before stage 3 or also if you already got AIDS? Thanks ..read more

Medication Stolen...

Someone stole my Biktarvy prescription from my mailbox. I verified with the pharmacy the medicine was delivered while I was out. I'm running into a lot of frustration due to how expensive the medication is in the first place. Now on top of it I'll find out insurance company will not replace due to the cost... My mind is running through a million different emotions. Including frustration about how expensive the medication is in the first place. It also has zero street value so whoever stole it got nothing. Probably threw away my $5,000 a month medication into the garbage. On the other hand, I ..read more

Any HIV Positive adults and on Medicare?

Hi I’m trying to help someone out as they transition to Medicare with Part D. They are in FL and I assumed having them get on ADAP would be helpful but apparently you can’t be on ADAP and have actual Medicare insurance? They should qualify for something as their income limit is about $2300 I’m going to try to have them contact the Ryan White foundation but would like to know if any other senior HIV positive adults know of any programs, specifically in FL. I know they can’t qualify for the Gilead copay card while on Medicare. Any assistance in this field would be great. submitted by /u/Fluffy ..read more
