I’m going skydiving for the first time next weekend, and the company I’m with is gonna take pictures. I think it would be sick as hell if I wore a button down white shirt, a tie and khakis for the picture (Don’t laugh I’m broke and it’s the nicest outfit I have ?). Would that be too dangerous?

I blazed through AFF in about 3 weekends worth of jumping. Felt like it flew by! I am so excited and had so much fun on my first solo jump (although, I was a bit lonely without my great AFFIs flying with me). Just wanted to share my excitement. Plan on getting my own helmet and altimeter here soon. I’m a bit nervous now that I’m technically a solo diver because I know I have a lot to learn still and I still suck at landings. Want to learn to pack my own chute next. Blue Skies!

Probably gonna start some debate here.
Finished AFF but no A Licence yet. Looking to start B-Rels in the next few months.
What's the best digital alti to begin with. I'm kinda a stats nerd so GPS tracking and all that shizz just turns me on. I'd love to get a Dekunu One but uhh, there might be a bit of a wait on one.
Looking at the Ares II, Viso II, Atlas II or the XON2. If money was no object I'd be leaning towards the XON2 paired with a Brilliant Pebble. But money is somewhat an object so probably an Ares II.
Just kinda looking for opinions and personal experiences.

So after two tandems and months of deliberation, I plucked up the courage to book my AFF level 1. It’s on the 14th May.
Now I have constant butterflies in my stomach and feel a little bit regretful. Why am I doing something that makes me feel this scared?!
It’s the landing that scares me. Mostly I’m worried about the radio failing and misjudging the flare. Oh my god, why am I doing this?! ?
You pros must get bored of these kind of posts so I’m really sorry. I just wanted to share my feelings with people who might understand how I’m feeling.

Are the fatality statistics on skydiving mostly solo jumpers? Or tandem? And what usually causes something like that to happen?

Apologies if this was already discussed. I couldn’t find the outcome online but I’d like some opinions.
Key facts: - Rachel was on her first AFF jump - She had previously completed 5 tandem jumps - She had one instructor - Her equipment had a main handle, secondary handle on her left hip for the main chute, and a reserve handle. - The instructor recorded the entire jump on video. - Rachel’s family is suing for negligence, the drop zone is saying it was her own errors. - The instructor didn’t pull her main until 3,000 feet.
Context: The instructor was on Rachel’s left side. The jump went a ..read more
