Looking to see how the vibes/assignments are. Interested in acute care. Seems like nursing is a bit more spread out assignment wise and to different units compared to other contacts I’ve been on; including getting floated to adults which I am not an adult nurse lol. Has anyone been there//know anyone who has? Liked it, disliked it, safe, unsafe? TIA! submitted by /u/Warm-Intern-410 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

7 months pregnant, facility canceled contract

So I've been at this facility since before I got pregnant. I'm 3 weeks into my 3rd assignment with them. My recruiter called and said they are canceling travel contracts due to low census. That doesn't make sense to me, because nurses are always being floated to my unit and we still consistently have 6-7 patients per nurse. There are no other feasible travel assignments for me, since I need to stay within a couple hours from home, being 28 weeks pregnant. And there's no way any hospital will hire me as FT staff when I can only work for a couple more months. So I'm going to lose my income and ..read more

Has anyone worked out of state as PRN? Or have any thoughts/outlook on it?

Wondering if anyone works out of state as PRN? (Or has positive or negative opinions on it). I’ve toyed with the idea before since the PRN requirements are so minimal. I’ve always liked the idea of being staff or contracted somewhere & flying out to CA to do PRN. I say CA bc I used to live there & still have family there, but I’m a Disney/Universal person so I’m also not opposed to FL. Then again I have family in TX so also not opposed to going there too lol. Whether it’s 2 shifts in 1 week every week, or fulfilling all the days together within 7 days, does anyone or has anyone done t ..read more

Anyone use a high quality inflatable mattress when on the road?

Just curious. Seems like a good deal when renting an unfurnished room especially if the price is right. Something you can easily pack away and stuff in your trunk when its time to leave. Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? submitted by /u/Dull_Support_4919 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Didn’t get my schedule until legit today. Supposed to start tomorrow orientation, had me on the schedule as night orientation, ok cool all good. They then call me at 5pm after my nap today to tell me they actually will have my come in for day shift tomorrow and Saturday then start nights next week. Like, what the hell. I know we’re travelers but seriously? the day before and you’re gonna do me dirty like this? submitted by /u/Pinklemonade1996 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Contract cancel

I’m having a moral dilemma and basically I need someone to tell me its okay. Background: I’ve been traveling for years and this is hands down my worst assignment. I’m in OB. Very unsafe staffing and I feel like my license is at risk. Questionable providers and the staff nurses say “thats just how it is.” I feel like I can’t give my patients the care I want to give or that they deserve. I’ve expressed my concerns about safety and the very questionable interventions that are being done here to my agency and they gave been nothing but wonderful. I have a job lined up that I was going to start af ..read more

Certifications for ED travelers?

How necessary are TNCC and PALS for ED travelers? Are they typically required/highly suggested/look great on a resume? Looking to start ED traveling at the end of the year with 2 years of experience. I have my CEN and ACLS certifications. My current ED doesn't have trauma or peds so they do not offer or pay for TNCC or PALS. Thanks! submitted by /u/meltyourheadachess [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

For those of you who've gone back staff- how bad is it?

Just accepted a staff job and start in a few weeks. I feel suffocated at the thought of giving up my freedom and feeling like a prisoner to the hospital again.. I know, a bit dramatic lol. I've read about nurses who went staff briefly, hated it and went back to traveling. I really hope that's not me because I don't want to burn a bridge. For those of you who are back staff now- how bad is it? What gets you through day to day? I'm ready for these travel rates to come back up submitted by /u/Ballbm90 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
