Costly We talk about standards a lot. Both in our regular classes and when it comes to the competition side. If you follow the competition side of CrossFit you will have seen on Thursday morning that the leaderboard for quarterfinals has had some big shake ups with some of the top athletes in the world having scores adjusted for the standards on at least workout 1, in the step ups that we know of right now, for their heads not being in line with their entire body. Track Night An update on track night. As of right now our permit to use the track from the end of May to end of August has not been approved. We’re still waiting to hear. Apparently the CCI track area is on a list for this summer to have maintenance, so the simcoe country school board is waiting to find out if that will be happening before they can approve or decline our permit. We will keep you posted as we find out more details. Schedule It’s currently 9:53am on Monday morning. Class registration for today’s classes opened at 8pm last night, so almost 14 hours ago. Chances are for 7 of those hours the majority were asleep, looking at our system as of 9:53am this morning we’ve already had 25 changes to the classes for today with people signing in and signing out, maybe signing in to another class time, etc. We’re not telling you this to make anyone feel bad, we know things come up, that’s why you have the ability to sign out. Congratulations Congratulations to the 5 athletes who took on the 4 quarterfinal workouts on Friday and Saturday. Sarah. M, Britt. F, Cedric. G, Andrew. B, and Jordan. D. These 5 athletes took on 4 gruelling workouts and did an incredible job. We also want to thank Steve. M and Jess. B for stepping in to help Steph and I judge over the course of the two days. As well as a massive thank you to everyone who came out to cheer these guys on. The Workouts For those of you that are planning to come and cheer on the athletes competing in the quarterfinals. Jordan, Britt, Cedric, Sarah, and Andrew Workout 1 will be done Friday, athletes will arrive and warm up at 10:30am so will hit the workout around 11am. Workout 2 will be done Friday afternoon, athletes will arrive and warm up at 1pm and will get ready to hit the workout around 1:30pm. Quarterfinals Rough plan. We’ve just seen the workouts, and have had only a few mins to chat between the Pre-Teen/Teen class and the adult class, we know many of you have asked about coming to spectate the quarterfinals workouts. Quarterfinals We learn what the workouts for Quarter finals are this Wednesday. The 9 athletes who have quailed to compete, we need to know if you’re planning on registering to take part. Until we know the workouts it’s hard to lock in a firm schedule, but like last year, we’re looking at holding 2 workouts on Friday, and 2 workouts on Saturday. What this looked like last year, was one workout at 10:30am on Friday, and one workout at 1pm on Friday. And on Saturday one workout at 10am on Saturday, and one workout at 1pm on Saturday. Change it up For years CrossFit has said routine is the enemy. Constantly varied functional movements is what CrossFit is at its core. So why don’t you constantly vary anything else about coming to the facility? Change it up. If you’re sticking to the same class time, the same coach, the same days of the week, the same spots in the facility. Change it up. Start by attending one different class time a week, or even a month. If 6am works for you, chances are so does 6pm. If 9:30am works for you, chances are so does 12pm.
