SCHEDULE It has been a season filled with uncertainty, but finally the 2021 W&L competition season will get underway tonight when the Generals host Shenandoah University on Friday February 26 at 7:00 PM. Nathan Shearer has guided the Generals wrestling team to improvement within the Conference and Region every season since 2016. Nathan Shearer is entering his 10th season as the head wrestling coach at Washington and Lee University. Although this season promises to be a unique experience, the Generals have a strong team that is looking to improve on the results of even last year’s excellent season. Senior 184 Rexx Hallyburton, Soph 157 Ryan Luth, and Senior 165 Shane Conners are set to compete at the NCAA DIII National Championships, starting tomorrow at 11 AM in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Generals wrestle to 2nd place in the Southeast Region; secure 3 NCAA Qualifiers

The Washington and Lee Generals finished 2nd in the NCAA Southeast Region and qualified three wrestlers for the NCAA Championships, to be held on March 13-14 in Cedar Rapids, IA. The Generals got off to a fast start and finished with 130 points, holding off host Messiah (123.5 pts). Eight Generals placed in the top 8, with Ryan Luth (SO 157) and Rexx Hallyburton (SR 184) winning regional championships. 2020 Centennial Conference Champions Recap | Official Team Results Despite dropping a conference dual to Muhlenberg in January and missing their 125 lber due to injury, the Washington and Lee Generals came into the conference tournament expecting to win a team title. The Generals started strong and led from the beginning of the tournament, going into the finals with a 15 point lead. Still, it wasn’t easy to hold off a surging Muhlenberg team. Generals finish dual meet season with wins record

The Washington and Lee wrestling team wrapped up the dual meet portion of the 2019-2020 season with three Centennial Conference wins this past weekend in Westminster, MD. The Generals defeated the US Merchant Marine Academy 29-14, Johns Hopkins 35-10, and Ursinus 34-12. Generals claimed the team title at the annual Jim Crytzer Invite, defeated regional rivals Ferrum College and Messiah College. After returning from Florida, the Generals got right to work preparing to host the annual Jim Crytzer Invitational. The Jim Crytzer Invitational is held every year in honor of Jim Cytzer ’77, a 3x NCAA Qualifier and a tremendous fan and supporter of W&L Athletics after his graduation.
