by Lawrence Kinnaman I have been working for the Tacoma Rescue Mission for over two years now. One of the many lessons I have learned since working at the Tacoma Rescue Mission is that anybody can experience homelessness. I have heard people say to me, "I used to be working in a job like yours helping people, but now I am the one that needs help". The more I started to hear this, I realized I could be a paycheck or two away from experiencing the same thing. It is a humbling thing, but I think God was trying to teach me something. I ..read more

Making Disciples by Discipling In RKids
Resurrection Church

by Kelly Wilson Here at Resurrection church we have a pretty specific mission.  To go…make…disciples!  For some of us that looks like GOING downstairs and spending a Sunday morning MAKING an environment where the kids who walk into our church building feel welcome, loved, and equipped to become DISCIPLES! As a ministry, we make it our goal to partner with families to help their children know, love and serve Jesus.  So when a kid is dropped off, we want to be so much more than a child watch, we want to do everything we can to help them meet Jesus.  Of course, this is primarily something the chi ..read more

by Andrew Jones Disciple Equip is a six-week course for anyone who wants to become more integrated into the life of the church. The course content focuses on teaching Resurrection Church’s values and providing participants with tools that will equip them to be better disciples of Christ and disciple makers. Disciple Equip also functions as the first small group that many in the church will participant in.  Participating in and helping lead Disciple Equip has been beneficial for me in a few ways. 14 Questions About the Fear of Man  1. Have you ever struggled with peer pressure? “Peer pressure” is simply a euphemism for the fear of man. 2. Are you over-committed? Do you find it hard to say no when wisdom indicates that you should? You are a “people-pleaser,” another euphemism for the fear of man. 3. Do you “need” something from your spouse? Do you “need” your spouse to listen to you? Respect you? Unless you understand the biblical parameters of marital commitment, your spouse will become the one you fear. Your spouse will control you. Why to Donate: “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did ..read more

A Prayer of Confession
Resurrection Church
by Resurrection Church

Almighty God, because you are so patient with us and lovingly withhold the wrath we deserve, please help us not to indulge in ungodliness and unrighteousness. Empower us, by your Holy Spirit, to see the ways we have provoked you and teach us to humbly repent. Change our minds. Change our hearts. Change our lives.  With all our heart we desire to submit ourselves to you, trusting you in your righteousness to discipline and forgive us according to your mercy. May we be called “blessed,” not by flattering ourselves in our apathy, but by running to you as our kind and gracious Father, reconciled ..read more
