The forecast didn’t show any expressive swells for the first half of February. Even though, most breaks had waist to shoulder/head high sets and we had occasional small pumps strong enough to allow us good surf sessions everyday. In the smaller days, we sail exploring the beach breaks along the coast of Sipora and scored lonely waves and empty barrels. On the second half of February two mid-sized swells brought the amount of energy we needed to make HTs turn on it’s engines with 5plus foot waves rolling above the famous “cirurgian table” reef. At Macarronis we also scored nice ones with few ..read more

October Surf Report Mentawai
Mentawai Surf Charters
by mentawaisurfchartersadmin

October was marked by strong S/SE winds and a noticeable decrease in water temperature – forcing surfers to put on their spring suits/neoprene vests to handle the wind chills with the long waits between sets. Even the color of the water, usually cristal clear blue, changed to a tone of green and then brown with the big swells. By the end of the month 2 large period swells hit the archipelago and we found good surfing conditions at the spots where S winds are favourable. Usually at this time of the year we expect SSE winds to be fading away and conditions getting glassy, but this year because ..read more

Our guests enjoyed empty lineups and endless barrels! Check it out… Video by @bernard.obeid In September our vessels Star Koat2 and Moon Palikir split between the Banyaks and Mentawais archipelagos. Unlike the 3 previous months, we had no big solid swell but several small pulses that were enough to keep all visitors excited and in the water enjoying the surf conditions. It was also nice to see the relentless south wind giving a break and being able to enjoy a north wind breeze with a magical morning session in Greenbush. Check the selection of photos and the video with the highlight mo ..read more

Video by @paulomendes_images The month of August, as well as the previous June and July, was marked by the big amount of swells that hit the Indonesian coast. The machine just wouldn’t turn off! From the beginning to the end of August we had back to back swells with the prevailing strong south wind which makes it difficult to move between the islands depending on the logistics ..read more

Just a little of what we scored in the Banyaks during July… Book your spot on this unforgettable surfing experience! Video by @beobeid July as always was marked by the amount and intensity of swells. In the Mentawai´s it was a great time to visit the islands from the far south to the north of the archipelago. Due to the intensity of the South Winds that prevailed throughout the month, the left handers were benefited and worked all month long. Waves like: Kandui, eBay, Telescopes pumped and basically without a crowd due to the amount of swells followed. Up to the north th ..read more

Moon Palikir and Star Koat sharing the lineup in Telos, and much more… June was 100% score! Video by @beobeid We began the month sailing from Telos heading north to end the trip in the Banyaks, after passing by Nias and Hinako. There wasn’t a single day where we didn’t score great quality waves. From fun to hollow powerful waves until long barreling rights of Treasure island – Banyaks, the 3 trips we did aboard Star Koat2 were score after score. Moon Palikir also did score in Mentawai waves like Greenbush for 3 days , the Hole in the good solid South swell we had and all the world clas ..read more
