State Testing Encouragement: In Alabama, we take our state testing (ACAP) in April. We test the week we come back from spring break *insert rolling eyes* so I am trying to get my kids ready. We have been reviewing skills like crazy, but we need some encouragement. What did we do? I had kids draw names from a hat and write a not of encouragement to their friend. They had the best time coming up with things to say and then to surprise the friend with the note! I added these around the edge of the bulletin board. The board is perfect for any grade or state test…or even just some spring encouragm ..read more

Leila Witch and Vlad Vampire
First Grade Blue Skies

Leila the Perfect Witch and Vlad the Fabulous Vampire are books by Flavia Z. Drago. They are the second and third installments of the Gustavo the Shy Ghost series. Each of these books teach a lesson. To me, Gustavo is about taking risks and being yourself. Leila the Perfect Witch teaches us that it’s ok to lose and that no one can be the best at EVERYTHING. Vlad learns to be himself, even if that’s not like everyone else. All of these books are great for social emotional learning. Quickly find all these packs HERE on TpT! Leila The Perfect Witch is used to winning at everything. But once she ..read more

My Apple Kid Craft is new and perfect for fall! I think these turned out super cute and goes along with my other kid crafts with glasses! I am in second grade now and so crafts are something we do ALL the time, but I still think it’s important to be crafty and not forget things like art. This coming week we will even be having our Apple Week celebration. As much as possible, all of our classwork will include an apple theme. You can find my latest craft HERE on TpT! Classroom Tour 2023

Classroom Tour 2023 -24! I have been patiently waiting for this reveal. It has taken a lot of time and effort but I am finally finished. Well, as finished as a teacher can be! I moved up from kindergarten, quite literally since I am not upstairs from K rooms. Moving the loft as not exactly fun, but my husband helped as he always does! Having a room that makes me happy is very important. At the beginning of the day, entering my classroom sets my mood for the rest of the day. My students love my room, too. They work hard to keep it clean and nice. I plan on adding classroom jobs and some other ..read more

Bulletin Board and Cursive Alphabet
First Grade Blue Skies

Bulletin Board and Cursive Alphabet are two things I never thought I would be putting together. But here we are! In second grade I plan to still be working on manuscript handwriting with a twist. My kiddos have already had instruction with basic handwriting so I don’t know that a class ABC chart is needed in manuscript. Of course, I may eat my words later and add one! I plan on having one on their name tag or at their seat. But for the class ABC posters, I chose to put them in cursive! Why? It’s new and exciting to them (and me!) Plus it sort of introduces the topic as they look up at it thro ..read more

Here is a checklist if you are moving grade levels, everything I needed to get the year started! I have taught all grades k-3 except second, until now! As I discussed in my last post HERE I needed a change. Kindergarten is my heart, but it’s time to give 2nd grade a try. But now what? In addition to changing grades, I am changing rooms. And before all the educational curriculum stuff gets any attention, I had to physically move ALL my junk, I mean valuable educational tools UP STAIRS of course! Did I mention I have a loft that has to be disassembled and moved by my husband. My husband who, by ..read more

Moving to Second Grade are words I never, ever imagined that I would type. I did not see it coming at all. My first two years teaching were in kindergarten, that’s where my heart is and always has been. I was “asked” to go to third grade and then to first grade for a total of 15 years. Finally in 2015, I made it back to where I started. It has been a wonderful. I’ve taught kindergarten for a total of 11 years, the most of any of the grades I have taught. First Day Student Teaching (in Kindergarten!) For the last 5 years, I have had one constant, my teacher bestie. She had a tough year and to b ..read more

Father’s Day is one of those holidays that for some of us falls outside our regular school year, but we still need an activity. However, for some teachers, they still need a fun activity. So whether you are still on school or you are teaching summer school (like me!), you can do a directed drawing. It is the PERFECT gift that dad will love. You can find the directed drawing pack HERE on TpT! Each of the drawings is unique and special, made just for dad. I love the added details like glasses or a beard. I also have a Father’s Day freebie that can be found HERE in an older post on my blog! All ..read more
