Hi my company is looking to hire a PR firm/agency the company is an Investment bank for startups and funds. We help founders and funds raise capital, prepare for the sale of a business or acquire a business. Looking for help with branding, media publications, etc. Mostof the agencies I’ve reached out to are quoting way over $10k a month. Are there any agencies with more reasonable pricing? submitted by /u/heyakaya [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Job hunting resource - is there interest?

Hi everyone, Like many people I'm on the hunt for a new job and incredibly frustrated with the ghosting, six rounds of interviews, massive strategy exercises, etc. that have become part of the process. I'm curious if folks would be interested in a knowledge share spreadsheet to take some autonomy back. I'm imagining something along the likes of -name of company -role interviewed for -average response time -did you work with a recruiter - how many interviews - is there an assignment, what is it, how long are they giving you etc. Let me know if you'd be interested in something like that and/or ..read more

Pitching PR Idea to Employer

I've seen quite a few posts concerning this strategy and rightfully so, many have been discouraged from pitching ideas to their employers or externally to other companies due to conflict of interest/contract breach or taking ownership of the idea. But my project is not related to creating some new product or service per se. I'm seeking funding for a public art project and am considering at least approaching someone from our PR team about whether or not this sort of project is something they'd be interested in. We have an internal channel where we can submit ideas and such to various marketing ..read more

Would you do a “writing assessment” after intro interview?

Long story short, I am on the job market and cold emailed a strategic communications firm expressing interest. I had one 30-minute exploratory call with someone there - and they are hiring VP level (10-15 years of experience). I have 15 years of experience across agencies and in-house roles. We didn’t discuss compensation on the intro call. The convo went well. They want me to do a lengthy project as a next step - which seems a bit early in the process, especially since I have absolutely no insight into financials. Would you do the project? There is no time limit but I anticipate it will take ..read more

Who Pays for Brand Activations?

Hi All! I recently went to a wellness event hosted by a trendy supplement brand, and at the event they had smoothies and lunch by a famous LA high-end grocery store, massages, and IV drip stations. I would love the opportunity to have my medspa provide free services for guests at these type of events and was wondering which party in the collaboration pays for the activation. Will I get paid for my services, will I have to donate my services, or will I have to pay the PR/marketing company to be an activation at their client’s event ? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/SpaceCowgirlYeehaw [visi ..read more

Should I send my children’s book to contact using contactanycelebrity.com for back cover reviews? Or hire someone to contact them?

I have spent the past 20 years doing my best to market my niche-ish pet related business. My illustrator is close to completing the final stage of my self-published children’s book that has to do with what I do with animals and I am determined to make this a success. So my question would be, since it could help to celebrity reviews on the back cover, is it a waste of time for me to use Contact Any Celebrity to send the draft of my book out to some celebrity animal advocates / some related to my topic experts on my own? Or is this a waste of time and I would be better off to hire somebody to h ..read more

This post just popped up on my LinkedIn feed: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/matthewbretzius_allow-me-to-introduce-myself-or-not-activity-7188899925928128517-iLlP Do journalists really not want to receive intro pitches? I'd think offering to connect them with helpful sources would be a good thing? submitted by /u/Aromatic_Day_4648 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Client wants 145k of AVE over a year - how realistic?

Our client, Tourism Ireland (not actual client) wants over 145k AVE (Advertising Value Equivalency) from their next 12 month campaign AVE is a calculation that estimates the value of a PR mention for those not familiar with the metric (I wasn't!) The campaign is to promote the area as beautiful, visit worthy etc etc This is my first time working with this controversial metric Metric aside - do you think this number is absolutely wild? Is 145k worth of earned coverage ridiculous for a tourism board over a year? Thanks!? submitted by /u/redditorw29 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How To Handle Reporter Who Won't Accept No

I am the comms director at a nonprofit that has a specific service area in the US. For media requests, we prioritize publications that are going to reach the people we serve and policy makers. I generally decline if it's a publication that's not USA based unless it's a super big deal. A European producer for a small tv station reached out about wanting to feature us on a documentary and it seems like it would be a lot for a show that's only going to be released in German in Germany. I've said no multiple times and now they're trying different email addresses in the hopes that someone else in ..read more
