Not looking for luxury or top of the line, okay with anything really. Young adults either 2 aged or three early twenties of drinking age. None of us are huge partiers but will drink occasionally. Playoff Hockey on HAL?

I’m leaving for a 4 day HAL trip Saturday. I don’t have a wifi package and I doubt it would be good enough to smoothly stream anyway. Will it be possible to catch the games at any of the bars on the Zaandam? Last year I tried to get one of the casino bar TV’s on Nieuw Statendam switched from basketball to hockey but the bartenders said they couldn’t change the channel (which I’m not sure I believe but didn’t push the issue). submitted by /u/autumnfrostfire [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Which TAs don’t allow upgrade bidding?

Hi, I’m exploring options to book my first cruise, and I want to remain eligible for upgrade bidding later on. I’ve heard that booking through some TAs block the customer’s ability to submit bids for upgrades. Can you share which TAs you know block customers for this? Thank you! submitted by /u/Tasty_Side_9083 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Has anyone experienced or does anyone have an opinion on all of the extra charges on Norwegian?

I’m on Norwegian Encore … beautiful ship … first time since Covid. 3 week cruise Miami to Seattle… a little on the expensive side. Prepaid gratuities of roughly $840 per standard balcony cabin. We have a beverage package. In the beverage package, sodas and coffee are NOT included. Although we have paid the $800 plus of gratuities if you order room service it is a $9.95 charge every time ($5 dollar service charge if you put the door hanger out with your selections for breakfast). The only other coffee besides room service (which isn’t very good, certainly not as good as the last time I sailed ..read more

In the olden days, were single men given free cruises to serve as dance partners for older women?

First, I loathe dancing, so I am not looking to hire on as a dance partner on cruise ships, but I seem to remember say 40 years ago that some cruise lines allowed carefully vetted men to cruise for free in exchange for serving as dance partners for older, single women. They would be expected to rotate around and dance with a number of women throughout the evening. Am I remembering correctly, or is this a figment of my imagination? If it did, in fact, take place, does it still take place on the super-luxury cruise lines? Just curious. I did a quick Google search and didn't find anything. subm ..read more

LF Recommendations - Norway, '25, Northern Lights, "Budget"

"Budget" because there's no way in hell a Norway cruise is gonna REALLY be budget. Here's the idea: - 2 people, 2 twin beds, small cabin is fine - ~1-1.3k/person preferably (euros/dollars) - Port visits, but cruise-bys with pretty fjords are more than welcome - Departure port anywhere in northern Europe - Duration doesn't matter all that much. A one-way cruise with a flight departure at a destination port is fine. Cruise would be in 2025 but timing + budget + distance and picking a line is... well, there's a lot of options with wildly varying reviews. From what I've read, smaller ships ar ..read more
