Oasis of the Seas was an industry first when she was launched 10 years ago ( Wow how time flies! ). I remember being so excited when I booked to go on ‘ the worlds largest cruise ship ‘. I was so impressed with the ship and it is still to this day one of my favourite cruises. In September this year she will undergo a 63 day refurbishment and will emerge in November with some fantastic new features. While other cruise lines are running on fuel that is polluting the environment Hurtigruten will become the first Cruise Operator to be powered by the natures of life. Signing a seven-year-plus deal with Norwegian company Biokraft who will deliver almost daily the delivery of Biogas which will power the ships with fuel made from dead fish and other Organic Waste. Unusually founded during the jet age, in 1965 Stanley McDonald noticed that the ships used for Alaskan summer sightseeing voyages weren’t being used in the Winter season. Stanley found he could rent the ships during the off season for an unbelievable price – keeping the ships on the West cost of America and sailing south to the warmer Mexican Riviera the Bookings came flooding in ! Yesterday saw the day that NCL changed their pricing concept from ‘Premium All Inclusive’ to ‘Free at Sea’. 2 years after the initial change to ‘Premium All Inclusive’ the idea behind the new concept is to offer greater flexibility for you, the travelling guest.
