The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) yesterday confirmed that next year’s Youth America’s Cup event has been cancelled due to New Zealand Government restrictions around immigration. The event would then have run across three weeks in early 2021, around the Prada Challenger Series and the 36th America’s Cup period. With 19 entries from 13 nations confirmed it was set to be a huge event for New Zealand complementing the Prada Cup challenger series and America’s Cup match.  Sail testing with North Sails and Southern Spars on the Waitematā Harbour. A much anticipated aspect of the 36th America’s Cup, set to be held in Auckland, New Zealand in 2021, is the Youth America’s Cup which already has more than 15 teams from around the world confirmed to take part. The event will be raced on a new carbon foiling mono-hull – the AC9F – designed by the Yachting Developments design team led by Bob Graham. Yachting Developments is pleased to confirm the safe delivery of 34.3-metre Al Duhail and subsequent safe arrival into her home port in Qatar. After launching in Auckland, New Zealand, on the 22 January 2020 she formally handed over to her owner in February 2020 before travelling to Doha from New Zealand. It has been an interesting time dealing with business operations here in New Zealand under Covid-19 Alert Level 4. Today marked the official return to work for Yachting Developments under the country's new Level 3 status which came into play today after nearly five weeks of Level 4's total country-wide lockdown for all but essential business. Today the New Zealand government made the decision to protect our position as an island nation, announcing a Level 4 COVID-19 alert status and a subsequent month-long nationwide lockdown that will close all but the most essential businesses. We have accelerated moves as a company and given our staff the chance to put measures in place with their families. Plans for the 36th America’s Cup are growing even more exciting, with the announcement of a new design concept – the AC9F – for a proposed Youth America’s Cup to take place in Auckland. It is with the greatest sadness that Yachting Developments must announce the passing of Blanche Cook, Financial Director and part-owner of Yachting Developments, wife of Ian and mother of Bianca and Paige. Blanche passed peacefully on 28 March 2019 after a brave battle with cancer. Blanche was an integral member of the Yachting Developments family.
