Our Dear Customers,
It’s only six weeks until Christmas, which I’m excited about. Beautiful and delicious Christmas products and gifts have landed on our shelves at Planet Organic. This is making me feel festive, so I’ve pulled out my menu and baking lists to consider what I feel like creating this year.
For Christmas baking, I use organic wholegrain spelt flour. There’s an old saying I like: ‘The whiter the bread, the quicker you’re dead.’ If you don’t already know this, it can be surprising and annoying to learn that white flour is ..read more

Our Dear Customers,
It’s been quite a year. At the beginning of 2023, Brian and I decided to cut down to four days a week so we’d have more time and space to…well, I wasn’t sure to do what exactly. We’ve worked so hard for so long, that although we knew we wanted to have time to have more fun, we couldn’t quite imagine what that meant.
I think we had a couple months of tying up loose ends and then started finding some ease and adventure when the Planet Organic administration bomb hit at the end of March. Through April, we decided to re-commit to this beaut ..read more

· When nitrogen compounds become too abundant, pollution occurs.
This pollution excess comes from synthetic fertilisers, animal manure, slurry and burning fossil fuels.
But the cracker, which I only learned a few months ago, is
In cities, 25% of air pollution is from agricultural off g ..read more

From supporting local suppliers to enjoying fresher and tastier fruit and veg, eating seasonally has a variety of huge benefits. As most fruits and vegetables are being grown somewhere in the world at any one time, eating seasonally more specifically concerns eating produce that’s being grown right now - locally and even better it works out cheaper.
Our latest seasonal recipe contains a seasonal favourite, purple sprouting broccoli mixed with crispy gnocchi and is ready in 15 minutes max. Pro tip: don't boil the gnocchi for extra flavour.

Be sure to read the first part to this blog where we interview Laura Riches & Laura Rosenberger, Co-founders of Laylo.
Please can you tell us more about the Tinto de Estremoz wine?
This is a big, juicy red blend from Estremoz, in the Alentejo region of Portugal. It’s made from 5 impossible-to-pronounce local varietals with a dash of Merlot.
It’s Laylo’s best selling red - and even picked up a 5* review in The Times.
Why do you love this wine?

Before the 1974 revolution in Portugal, it wasn’t really considered a ..read more
