Anyone else (adults) bounce back (get it?) after ACL surgery?

Former competitive dancer from 1993-2005...kept shoes and continue dancing for fun as a hobby. I rent the city community dance studio for $5/hr and dance by myself, however good or bad I continue to be, I do it for fun. I had a fully torn ACL last year and am nearing the full recovery stage after surgery. I am walking 2+ miles/day and doing small jogs, though I can only do so much still. Right now, doing hardshoe ever again seems impossible. Has anyone else gone through this as an adult? I know kids bounce back well from ACL surgery, but it's a bit different recovery process when you're almos ..read more

Used hard shoes

Hello all, A friend of mine has used hard shoes that I am looking to buy. My friend is asking for the same price they bought them for, so I was wondering if shoes are worth more or less after being used? They are in good condition as far as I can tell. I am aware that them being broken in probably has some value. Just wanted to get some outside opinions. submitted by /u/Ninjaboy8080 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi all, My daughter is semi-new to preliminary championships, but I was going to sign her up for a feis near us and it said prelim 2nd chance. Can anyone explain what that is and should I sign her up for it? submitted by /u/AnonHelperr [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Concurrent competitions at a feis

Hi yall! I’m feising in prelim this weekend and I‘m a little confused by the schedule. Basically it says that e.g at 12pm on stage 1 they have 5 age groups of prelims running concurrently. Does this mean each group does their 1st round, and then moving to 2nd for all? I don’t remember seeing this concurrent thing happen too often, last time I feised in prelim my age group did 1st round and 2nd round back to back without other age groups or competitions on that stage in between. submitted by /u/wacholderrose [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi all! I’m still rebuilding up strength from a 15 yr dance hiatus but I was wondering, what exercises would you recommend to help achieve a butterfly? I remember we started learning them right before I quit as a teen and was never able to do it. submitted by /u/ghost-in-my-coat [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi All! My 6 year old daughter has her first Feis next week and as her mom, I’m feeling…lost. I was a dancer growing up but this Irish dance world is way different! Is there anything you can think of that I need to pack? Have on hand? Any advice? We are both so nervous and I don’t want to forget anything! submitted by /u/MayorReedTown [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How to find Feises/comps

I’m a retired and returned dancer at 25 years old, never competed properly as a kid (only small class competitions) and I’m potentially interested in getting stuck in with some ‘real’ feises - I’m in England, live in Cheshire - what’s the best way to find comps locally? submitted by /u/kelsiebethan [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
