I have been enrolled in homeschool throughout 7-8th and currently my sophomore year, all years i never completed it or had any motivation to complete it, i am now nearing the end of my sophomore year and i only have 1/3 progress for this year and i tried so hard. Has anyone else been struggling with this? Ive been thinking about it and i could been done with all of those classes 2 months before 2023 even ended. Is this a nation wide problem or is it me? I have so many regrets and this is a huge one, HUGE ONE. I cry at night bc of ts submitted by /u/Cultural-Stop-9733 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

LifePac Curriculum

So today I was at a used book store and saw a full box set of 5th grade LifePac curriculum. I was tempted to buy it for myself, as a curriculum enthusiast, but I decided against it bc I had a long journey home by train and bus so I didn’t buy it. I have a question though, for all those here who have used LifePac, what is your overall experience with it, and would you recommend it be used for private tutoring? Is it secular, neutral, or profoundly Conservative-Sunday-School style? submitted by /u/bebespeaks [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I use the Acellus homeschooling program, and my old school just did state testing (I have a friend that still goes there and they told me that they finished it up), and I know state testing is necessary to do, but how do I take the state test if I’m homeschooled? submitted by /u/Automatic_Muffin5802 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

There was a book series that would have been in homeschool/Christian circles in the early 2000's about a husband and wife who lived in the middle of the woods, and the series was about their interactions with wildlife/conservation/etc. The covers were dark green with the name of the book, and a square picture of woods or an animal or something I can't remember. One of the books is about the various baby animals the man brings home and they take care of, and almost every chapter ends with the wife saying "no more baby animals!" We got the series from an Amish/Mennonite curriculum store somewhe ..read more

Homeschooling 5 year old triplets?

Wife really wants to homeschool our triplets. I am not 100% against it, but I also want her to have a break from the kids. She has been a SAHM since they were born. She also works 2 days a week (fri/sat) to keep her skills current. I work 4 days a week. I just can't get on board 100%. I feel as if there are too many distractions at home and they won't sit down and learn. I feel like this would put even more stress on my wife as it is. I also work from home 2 days a week and those days are hard for me due to them being distracted cause I work from home. I dunno. Wanted to reach out to see if a ..read more

How do you all afford homeschool?

My little one is just 15 months and goes to daycare as me and my husband work full time. I have a relatively easy remote job that pays well and I am not ready to give up just yet. I have anxiety about my son going to school when he gets to be that age. One of the biggest reasons is security and of course school shootings. It’s terrifying. Maybe by the time he is in school I would be able to quit my job and find something part time but I’m not sure. I like my job now because we live very comfortably with just one baby but I do know I want to add more kids in the future. How do you afford to ho ..read more

Would you/do you participate in daytime extracurriculars?

For context, I’m a dance teacher and ’ve had some interest for daytime dance lessons or fitness classes for homeschool students, but I’m wondering how successful such a program would actually be. I like the idea that kids would have less activities in the evening, prioritizing family time but I’m not sure if there would be enough interest. We were thinking 45min-1hr small group classes, meeting once a week to focus on learning a single genre of dance. Another option was a dance fitness class that parents and their kids could come participate in. Wondering about the timing logistics- early mor ..read more
