Hi all,
I recently purchased an Ayacucho women’s mountain peak jacket from Cotswold. It’s a very comfy fit and seems like a great waterproof jacket with nice water-resistant zips on the chest and side pockets but I’ve noticed there’s literally no reviews online or even on Reddit. The torrentshell of course has many good reviews.
I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the Ayacucho jacket, or if I might be better going with the more reputable torrentshell?
I have a mountain equipment rupal as my more heavy duty jacket, so was looking for a waterproof jacket that’s a bit lighter but ..read more

Trying to make multiple 3oz bottles of insect repellant for the homeless organization I volunteer for. What’s the most cost effective way to go about this or best way to mix 100% deet to dilute and stretch the contents to help the most I can?
[Mods, if not allowed, please refer me to some good help]

I setup my layering system. I have a pure silk baselayer, a pure 260gsm merino wool midlayer, and an Arcteryx Cerium down jacket on top which I've heard is supposed to be a 3 season kind of jacket. And when it's raining I'll put a basic thin waterproof jacket on top. Right now, in my house, when I put all of these things on except for the waterproof, I don't feel warm at all. I feel like I want to be warmer. I am highly sensitive to temperature and I get cold extremely easily. My hands go numb when I'm outside for like 10 minutes. Even still, I thought with the premium materials used, I would ..read more

Looking for recommendations on weather pods/tents. Our son plays baseball and football and we are constantly out in the weather with our toddler and newborn. I have read horrible reviews from amazon on most of the pods/tents advertised and was looking for some insight from someone who may actually use them. We will need one that fits 3-4 people.

They did (fairly) well for 3 years of heavy use. I’m after a good pair of lightweight shorts preferably with deep and/or zip pockets!
I also contacted Patagonia - they said they wouldn’t fix em

I want to get a jacket mid layer and I have decided that the material needs to contain at least some merino wool and then I will wear a down jacket on top when I need to. I looked and came across a pure wool jacket made from 90% merino and 10% cashmere and it's really cheap. I could buy it but it's thin and I'm wondering about if it would actually be that warm compared to a merino/polyester/elastane blend. Firstly, the blend jacket looks slightly thicker. You can't see bits of light shine through like you can with the pure jacket. Secondly, the actual blend itself might be warmer but idk so t ..read more
