As for the rubber mats, use car mats--the kind that is used on the floor by the front car seat to keep the carpet protected. I think they make them in clear plastic, now. For outdoor furniture use child-size wooden picnic tables or wood benches and a long table (wood furniture is more expensive but it lasts longer and can withstand the wind). You ..read more

I started my Montessori on a Budget blog in 2011! It is now archived, with so much for you to explore! The blog was created in an effort to bring together affordable and DIY Montessori and homeschool materials and activities for the home. In 2013 the blog was joined by Montessori moms Kim Huff of Natural Beach Living and Marie Mack of Child Led Life. In the fall of 2015, we added a new blogger to join us: educator (and PD ..read more

Angela and her two boys--one of whom is Autistic--need help with food and gas and rent to make it through the summer until she can return to work as a special needs classroom assistant (in the fall). Angela, who is going through a bitter divorce, has been my neighbor for several years. When she told me about  what happened to her family, I felt the need to step in and help, so I contacted another mutual friend--Yvonne--who has known Angela for many more years. Together, Yvonne and I are raising money (via gofundme.com) to buy gift cards to give to Angela for food, gas, and rent so that she ..read more
