Crispy Sweet Potato Fries

Recently I did a live Q&A and one of the questions I got was how to make crispy sweet potato fries without burning them. So I got bizzy in my kitchen and figured it out!  The trick is to simply microwave the sweet potato fries for one minute.  This is just enough to make them slightly fork tender, but they will continue to cook in the airfryer once coated.  This method ensures that the outside gets crispy, the insides stay tender, and no burnt fries.  Winning! Why do you soak potatoes in an ice water bath? Many moons ago, I... The post Crispy Sweet Potato Fries appeared ..read more

Cheater Sourdough Bread

This cheater sourdough bread recipe may make the fear of using yeast a thing of the past.  My method also does not require any special equipment other than a bowl and a Dutch oven.   In a world where instant gratification often reigns supreme, the art of making sourdough bread stands out as a testament to the power of patience and practice. Much like mastering any skill, learning to create the perfect loaf of sourdough takes time, dedication, and a willingness to embrace the learning process. In many ways, the journey of mastering sourdough mirrors the challenges we face when st ..read more

Matcha Chia Pudding

This matcha chia pudding is hands down my favorite chia pudding I’ve made to date. The vanilla protein powder gives just enough sweetness, and with the fruit on top, it’s the right amount of sweetness for me. FlavCity Protein Smoothie I’ve tried so many protein powders over the years, but they all go through me so quickly, I may as well drink them while sitting on the toilet.  So I was skeptical when Bobby came out with protein smoothies, but I absolutely love them.  The only one that isn’t my favorite as a smoothie is the butter coffee – but... Cottage Cheese Tahini Dressing

In my quest of trying to eat more vegetables, I’ve been following some vegan accounts.  This cottage cheese tahini dressing was inspired one of those food bloggers. Sara from Better Food Guru is a 30 year seasoned chef.  She’s vegan, and one of the reasons I love her is that she doesn’t push veganism on you, she just wants you to eat more plant based meals. The recipe that inspired me was her rainbow chopped vegan salad.  She had me at a tahini orange juice dressing.  When I made it, it was a bit runnier than I wanted.  I apologize... This barley meatball vegetable soup is definitely a meal! One of the first recipes I made for my last husband was homemade bread, compound herbed butter with chicken noodle soup.  He loved it!  I cleaned up the kitchen and asked if he was ready to go the movies, and he said “what’s for dinner?”  It was quickly learned that my husband did not consider soup dinner! This soup is rich, filling and delicious.  And yes, it is dinner in my opinion. What is barley? In your grocery store there is pearl barley and quick barley.  Quick barley has been partially... Scones are one of my favorite things to make.  These pistachio scones with mint chocolate drizzle are absolutely delicious.  No serious baking skills required! I adapted a recipe from Sweet Simple Masala.  Her recipe called for 5 tablespoons of butter, and a 1.25 cups of heavy cream.  Did you know that 1.25 cups of heavy cream is 57 points?  By substituting unsweetened almond milk for the heavy cream, it saved 7 points off of each scone.  Thanks for the inspiration Jill! What is the secret to a flakey scone? Start with using cold butter.  I also grate my butt ..read more

This tofu cabbage stir fry is going to go to the top of the list of things to make – pinky swear! It’s full of flavor and yes, I am eating vegetables!  My friend Morgan and I went to an Asian grocery store a week ago and I bought some Taiwanese cabbage.  It’s delicious! This recipe was made on my Instagram stories, and I just put it together with things I had on hand.  In the video I used Chow Fun noodles, but those are pretty hard to find. For this recipe, I substituted lo mein noodles, because those are... The post Tofu Cabbage Stir Fry appeared first on My Bizzy Kitchen ..read more
