TAG RUGBY SUMMER LEAGUE Buccaneers Laya Tag Rugby Summer League commences on Thursday, May 9th and continuing until mid July. Tag Rugby is a fun and fast-moving non-contact variation of the game, suitable for all ability and experience levels. It is an ideal sport to keep fit in a social way. Squads can be up to 15 players, which makes the cost for individuals very reasonable. Teams are made up of 7 players, 3 of whom must be female. BUCCANEERS 0 CARRICK-ON-SHANNON 29 BUCCANEERS gave it their all in the Bank of Ireland Connacht U-13 Cup final but simply could not match an excellent display by Carrick-On-Shannon who triumphed on a 29-0 scoreline at the Dexcom Stadium on Sunday. Playing down the slope Carrick had first benefit of the breeze and promptly put the young Pirates under pressure with Shane McGirl weaving his way through for a 4th minute try converted by Henry Hanrahan. BUCCANEERS 15 GORT 13 BUCCANEERS overcame Gort 15-13 in a tight Bank of Ireland U-13 Cup semi-final replay contested at balmy Dubarry Park on Sunday. The young Buccs scored 2 tries to their opponents one as they advanced to a final meeting against Carrick-On-Shannon next Sunday. This game will kick-off at the Dexcom Stadium at 12 noon. Jason Heneghan opened the scoring with a penalty for the homesters who followed this up with a Fergal Kelly try shortly afterwards. A Gort try narrowed Buccs lead to 8-5 at half-time.
