While Cardiff Blues may have the historical upper-hand on Edinburgh Rugby, it is the Conference B leaders who are the team to beat at the moment. Edinburgh are yet to taste defeat in front of their home supporters in the Guinness PRO14 this season, and beat the Blues 19-11 earlier in the campaign. However, the Blues have won 19 of the 31 meetings between the two sides, including a memorable come-from-behind success in last season’s visit to BT Murrayfield. It proved to be a significant moment in Edinburgh’s season as they failed to reach the Final Series, despite appearing strong favourites to ..read more

In the absence of Guinness Six Nations matches this weekend, the Guinness Pro14 takes centre stage with an intriguing set of fixtures to look forward to. Two mid-table Conference A sides go head-to-head on Saturday evening as Dragons welcome Toyota Cheetahs to Rodney Parade for a 5.15pm kick-off. The two sides have not yet met this season but Cheetahs go into the game 13 points ahead of their hosts, with both teams looking to respond having been beaten last weekend. Some of the top metre-makers of the round came from the men in green and white with top runner of the week Luca Sperandio only on the field for 54 minutes but still ..read more

It may be hump day, but the news cycle never stops, with plenty of Guinness PRO14 goings on to report. We had movers and shakers, injury woes and changes at the top – it was a busy Tuesday indeed. Let’s start in Wales, with the news of a new man at the helm at the Liberty Stadium. Ospreys announced yesterday that Harlequins assistant coach Toby Booth will take charge of the region from the start of next season, and according to performance director Mike Ruddock, it was a collective decision that saw Booth get the nod. Up the road in Llanelli came the exciting news that Liam Williams would ..read more

Last weekend was packed with rugby from Guinness PRO14, Guinness Six Nations and Women’s Six Nations, and as per usual a number of eyebrow-raising stats came to light. We picked out a few that caught our attention but we actually start with some numbers emanating from the weekend’s rugby approaching, in Round 13 of the Championship. Cardiff give Blues to Edinburgh Amazingly, on the last three occasions Cardiff Blues have travelled to Edinburgh, they’ve won every time. The Blues were victorious in Edinburgh in 2019, 2017, and 2016 – and even more strangely, Edinburgh scored exactly 17 points in ..read more
