McLaren has dedicated Lando Norris’ victory in the Miami Grand Prix to the late Gil de Ferran, at what would have been one of his home races. Norris won for the first time in his Formula 1 career on Sunday, pulling away from Max Verstappen to win in an upgraded McLaren. Florida was de Ferran’s home in the United States prior to his death in January of this year, and after taking the first win since his passing McLaren dedicated the victory to the Brazilian, with a celebratory pit board carrying a tribute message. Over the last decade every kind of motorsport imaginable has been electrified. Circuits, off-road, four wheels and two, and even on water – a championship in the air is being worked on, too. Leading the group is Alejandro Agag’s flagship trio of Formula E, Extreme E, and the E1 boat racing series. The list of people who’ve sampled any two of the three is a short one – Stephane Sarazzin raced in both Formula E and Extreme E, while Adrien Tambay has driven both, and Timmy Hansen and Catie Munnings run full schedules in both Extreme E and E1. But last month Munnings became the first person to exp ..read more

The Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing IndyCar team is preparing for a significant change to its engineering group. Formula 1 aerodynamics expert Stefano Sordo joined RLL as its new technical director with plenty of fanfare in September of 2022, and after informing the team of his intent to return to F1, the Italian will exit his post following 1.5 years with the team after the May 26 Indianapolis 500. Following a humbling month of May in 2023 where one of the RLL entries owned by Bobby Rahal, Mike Lanigan, and David Letterman failed to qualify for the great race, Rahal and Lanigan made sizable in ..read more

Max Verstappen says Lando Norris’ victory in the Miami Grand Prix won’t be his last win, after being surprised by how quick the McLaren was on Sunday. Norris took the first win of his Formula 1 career in Miami, beating Verstappen after taking the lead by being able to make a pit stop during a safety car period. Even before that, Norris was lapping quickly and then pulled away to win by almost eight seconds, and Verstappen says his own struggles for grip meant he didn’t have an answer to the McLaren. “I think already on the mediums it didn’t feel fantastic,” Verstappen said. “We were pulling aw ..read more
