We don’t need to trade young players or picks to make meaningful progress next year. We just need to spend $60m to have a cohesive idea of a team

Cohesive = decent defensive anchors, good floor spacing, and a 9 man rotation of non-injury-prone, actual NBA players. That alone will get you to 32+ wins, which is all we should be aiming for next year. After that, to jump to play-in/playoff level in ‘25-‘26, yes, we will need to make some harder decisions, but building a C-tier roster with a ton of cap space is not a difficult problem. Much of the solutions provided including by our beat writers make it sound like we are in some crazy conundrum and need to make really high risk trades to get out of the hell hole and I fundamentally disagree ..read more

If we get rid of Monty, who would be your preferred replacement coach?
Detroit Pistons - Reddit

Even though he wasn't set up with a winning roster, it's clear that this team isn't going anywhere with Monty at the helm. At best, his heart isn't in it at all, at worst, he's the most incompetent NBA coach in recent history. With some of the beat writers saying that it's 60/40 that Monty's gone with the new POBO, who do you think could be a suitable replacement? My candidate, if possible, would be Chris Quinn. I know it's a meme, but if he can transplant at least some of that "Heat culture" to us it would go a long way to getting rid of the losing culture that has permeated this franchise ..read more

The ATHLETIC's Sam Vecenie shuts down JEIII future plans for PISTONS

https://theathletic.com/5441967/ 2024/04/26/pistons-offseason-nba-draft-cade-cunningham/ Highlight of JEIII asking opinions of Sam on state of the PISTONS: "Vecenie: I mean, I think the less we say about it, the better, right? It’s really difficult to have organizational success when you’re the worst-coached team in the league and also have what I think is a front office living on borrowed time. I don’t think Monty Williams had any great answers necessarily, given that Troy Weaver and Co. built a roster without any two-way players, without much shooting, and relying on a significant number ..read more

Saw this posted. His X/Twitter account is gone and his last IG story has been deleted. Can’t confirm it for myself other than this screenshot. Seems like such a random thing to throw out there if it’s true. submitted by /u/driphanilton [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I get that hindsight is 20/20, but here's what I think they should have done in the off-season.

Pistons fans aren't impatient, I think we would have been satisfied just to see some nominal improvement in our record and a clear path forward. I feel like the front office banked on some major improvements in chemistry among our young players, like they would just settle into their roles without any discernable (from the outside) attempt to ensure that happens. Seems like they really didn't have much of a Plan-B after we didn't get Wembenyama. Now a year later we're talking about how we could get Mo Bamba for cheap. LAST OFFSEASON was the time to pick up Mo Bamba-level contributors. The tea ..read more

Need a Rim protector? Isaiah Hartenstein > Nic Claxton
Detroit Pistons - Reddit

It’s an open secret that Detroit is missing a defensive interior presence, and this front office can’t afford to hope Duren figures it out in the next 11 months. They should be looking to add experienced rim protection that can add to winning ASAP but keep the upside of a mid-twenty year old. Good thing there’s 2 on the market this upcoming FA, and they’re both in NYC. Both Hartenstein and Claxton are rim protectors who’s offense primarily comes from the pick and roll. Both are great players with upside at 25 who I’d be thrilled to add to this roster. However, I think Hartenstein clears. Some ..read more

How do you think your future is going to be?

I'm a heat fan just seeing how you guys think the future is. I am in no meens bashing the franchise but since the Blake Griffin playoff days you guys have been bottom of the conference, and having cade for three years now still bottom of the conference with great lottery picks. In say two years how will the young core of cade,Ivey, ausar,Stewart, and duren do with another top prospect. How long till you guys think you can be a dominant team like the 04 pistons or the bad boys submitted by /u/Antique_Lecture_2983 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
