LOGAN – The Utah State University athletics department held a press conference on Tuesday to introduce the new head coaches for men’s and women’s basketball.   The new head coach for the women’s basketball team is Wesley Brooks, who served as an assistant coach at Ohio State University. Before that, he worked as an assistant at Michigan, Utah, North Texas, Texas Southern and Robert Morris.   On Saturday, Jerrod Calhoun was named the 22nd head coach for the men’s basketball team. INDIANAPOLIS – Utah State University lost to Purdue University Sunday afternoon 106-67. The Aggies came into an arena filled with Purdue fans. West Lafayette is just over an away from Indianapolis, so the Boilermakers had the home court advantage. On top of this were some questionable foul calls. The Aggies have made history by winning this year. INDIANAPOLIS – Utah State University will play Purdue University tomorrow at 2:40 p.m. ET, 12:40 p.m. MT. The Aggies come into this game after their first NCAA win since 2001 where they beat Ohio State 77-68. This will be the twelfth time in school history the Aggies have played an AP top 25 team in the NCAA tournament, and the previous 11 times the school has lost. INDIANAPOLIS – After coming off a tough loss against San Diego State, the Aggies pulled out a first-round win against the Horned Frogs in Indianapolis Friday night, 88-72, and achieved their first NCAA tournament win in 23 years.   “I think playing San Diego State last Friday prepared us for this win,” said head coach Danny Sprinkle.   USU started Ian Martinez, Darius Brown II, Mason Falslev, Great Osobor and Isaac Johnson. Utah State University will play Texas Christian University in the first round of the NCAA tournament tomorrow night in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. New NIL bill passes Utah legislature

Utah’s state legislature recently passed HB202 regarding student-athletes and NIL deals at the collegiate level. NIL deals allow any student at the university to receive compensation for the use of their name, image and likeness; often, however, the deals go to student-athletes.
