The Alchemist & Oh No’s new Gangrene album has a song called “Dinosaur Jr”

Back in February, The Alchemist released an EP with Hit-Boy that had a song titled “Morrissey,” and today he put out an album that has a song titled “Dinosaur Jr.” The album in question is from Gangrene, his long-running collaboration with Oh No, and it’s titled Heads I Win, Tails You Love. The song “Dinosaur Jr” doesn’t mention the indie rock icons or members J. Mascis, Lou Barlow, or Murph by name, but it does namecheck a few actual dinosaurs and this rhyme comes midway through: “Lay him out flat like a top scam / Marshall amplifiers on the stage, I’m in a rock band.” Listen to that below ..read more

R&B-focused Sacramento, CA festival Sol Blume has canceled its 2024 edition, original scheduled for May 3-5, due to site safety concerns. The festival is now set to happen next on August 15-17, 2025 at Discovery Park. A message from organizers reads: For the second year in a row, Sol Blume has faced challenges that require us to make a significant change to the festival as we know it. Power-pop great Matthew Sweet is on is first tour in four years and hit NYC on Thursday for a show at City Winery. This time out his band included The Bangles‘ Debbi Peterson on drums, with regular side-men Paul Chastain (Velvet Crush) on bass and John Moreman on lead guitar, plus “the new kid,” Adrian Carter, on acoustic and backup vocals.
