Dublin band Sprints have issued a statement, saying that vocalist Karla Chubb was sexually assaulted at their Belfast show on Saturday (4/20). The statement says that it’s the second time she’s been assaulted on their current tour supporting their 2024 debut album, Letter To Self, and reads, “We will not stand for it and we will not be silent about it”:
Yesterday, Karla was sexually assaulted for the second time on the Letter To Self tour. The fact that this has occurred twice is abhorrent, the fact it still happens at all is disgusting. We will not stand for it and we will not be silent abou ..read more

Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

Even before VIAL played a single note at Brooklyn’s Sultan Room on Sunday night (4/21), you knew you were in for something special. The Minneapolis punk trio took the stage, grabbed their instruments, let some feedback ring out, and they just looked like a ticking bomb ready to go off. When they launched into burnout opener “two-faced,” that’s exactly what happened. Nobody stands still on stage or off at a VIAL show, the band looked and sounded like total stars, and they were as loud and punk and brash as a band like this should be. There were multiple times in the set where they just let out ..read more

The third-annual Indieplaza festival happened at Rockefeller Center on Saturday. The two previous editions happened in September, but this year they moved it to Record Store Day. That made a lot of sense, given that it’s co-presented by Rough Trade, though the very long long to get into the store for RSD exclusives (which was still over an hour wait at 3 PM!) meant a lot of people had to settle for hearing some of the bands rather than actually see them. It was gorgeous weather on Saturday (which was also 4/20) and made for a fun day at Rockefeller Center with a terrific lineup that featured C ..read more

Just in time for 4/20 on Saturday, Cypress Hill have embarked on their “We Legalized It” spring tour, where $1 from each ticket sold is donated to the Last Prisoner Project, and they stopped in NYC on Friday night (4/19) at Brooklyn Steel. Souls of Mischief opened the night, backed by DJ Lazy Boy, followed by The Pharcyde, who were accompanied by DJ Cell. They dedicated “Runnin'” to the late J Dilla, who produced the song, and also made a dedication to their late mentor, Reggie Andrews.
DJ Lord warmed the crowd up for Cypress Hill, and was joined first by Bobo to play percussion, then Sen Dog ..read more

On Record Store Day, Dave Grohl teamed up with Anthrax members Scott Ian and Charlie Benante to release a cover of the Bad Brains classic “The Regulator” on a 7″ under the name G.B.I. (a G.B.H. reference that stands for Grohl, Benante, and Ian). They’ve also made a music video for the cover, shot when they were recording it in the studio. Dave played drums, Scott played guitar, and Charlie (Anthrax’s drummer) played bass, and then Dave hopped over the vocal booth. Scott says they recorded it live in two takes.
“It was so much fun to get to play with Dave on drums and to hear his voice with my ..read more
