Talk at a workshop on Algebraic and Geometric Aspects of Differential and Difference Equations On 13th June 2024 Dr. Theodoros Kouloukas gave a talk on the Liouville integrability of cluster maps and integrable deformations at the Algebraic and Geometric Aspects of Differential and Difference Equations workshop at the University of Portsmouth. Abstract: We introduce a class of birational maps derived by sequences of cluster mutations and study their Liouville integrability using the properties of the underlying cluster algebra structure. We also consider deformations of the cluster maps ..read more

Talk at a conference on Algebraic Aspects of the Yang-Baxter Equation On 5th June 2024 Dr. Theodoros Kouloukas gave a talk on the Integrability of Deformed Cluster Maps at the conference at Heriot-Watt University on algebraic aspects of the Yang-Baxter equation. Abstract: We present deformations of cluster mutations with covariant log-canonical presymplectic forms defined by the corresponding exchange matrix. By considering periodic sequences of cluster mutations, we define deformed cluster maps and investigate their Liouville integrability. We study examples of parametric deformations ..read more

Loughborough/Lincoln grant Helen Willcock (Loughborough) and Martin Greenall (Lincoln) have secured funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for the project ‘Core Exposure in Responsive Polymer Systems’. The aim of the project is to find the conditions under which the core of a polymer particle in solution becomes exposed, a question that is important in applications including drug delivery and oil recovery. The grant will fund two research associates in Loughborough and academic staff costs in both universities ..read more

The algebra team of the University of Lincoln was founded in 2014, alongside the School of Mathematics and Physics of the University. Since then, Professor Evgeny Khukhro, co-founder of the School, has led the team — which turned into the Charlotte Scott Research Centre for Algebra in 2018 — to become a thriving research group in the East Midlands. This short conference, taking place online, 12-14 June 2024, marks two memorable occasions: the retirement of our dear colleague, mentor, and friend, Evgeny Khukhro, and the 10th Anniversary of the Algebra Group and the School of Maths an ..read more
