Hello and welcome to my corner of the web. I'm Mindy, and I've been cosplaying and sewing since early 2012. I created this site to keep track of all my crafty projects and provide advice for other crafters. You'll find lots of sewing and cosplaying tips, tricks, and breakdowns, as well as the occasional review of my favorite nerdy things.

Why This Costume:
I mean, I’m very much the target demographic for this movie and I’m still absolutely obsessed with all the outfits in it. This outfit and Margot Robbie’s Perfect Day dress were 1000% on my wishlist the moment they appeared in the trailers, but I decided to bite the bullet and go for it about a week ahead of attending Colossalcon South.

Why This Costume: Fire Emblem Heroes is a danger zone. Every time they drop a new alt for my favorite characters, I know I’m going to be in trouble and have to drop everything to make it! Marianne’s swim outfit was no exception, especially when my lovely friend Fauna Cosplay said they wanted to cosplay swim Hilda

Several of you have asked about the Hamilton costume I made for my friend, Ricardo, a while back so here ya go!

Hi, hello, and howdy! It’s certainly been a minute, hasn’t it?
Life in lockdown pandemic world had its ups and downs (lots of those, tbh), and I feel like my mind and heart will never be the same. Some of the activities I found joy in before the pandemic no longer had the same appeal, or if they did, I found myself lacking my previous levels of energy and motivation. Cosplay in particular has been difficult to complete in the same manner I approached before COVID. Late in 2020, I turned to other endeavors for some sewing related stress-relief, one of those being lingerie-making.

Guess who’s back (back again)? With social media platforms across the board turning into flaming dumpster fires, I’m aiming to put more effort back into this website again. First off is a look at a play that I interned for in the spring of this year, She Kills Monsters! This play is heavily inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, and it was such a fun and creative production to build. Below is a very brief look at some of the pieces I made or assisted my mentor with making!
Hood for the narrator. We had a delightfully sparkly number for this one.
Bodice for the demon queen. This piece uses Super S ..read more

Long time, no post! Blogs might be somewhat out of fashion now, but I still enjoy seeing posts pop up from time to time. I’m currently working on some restructuring around this site and will likely keep my cosplay build information housed in the Portfolio section and use the blog for more informal posting (think WIPs, stream of consciousness, life updates, etc.)
I mentioned in The Romantic Tutu post that I’ve been making some new projects for homework, but I failed to mention why I had homework; in Spring 2021, I started on a Master’s in Theatre with a focus in Costume Design. This is a move I ..read more

As part of my homework for a Theatre History class this week, I constructed a basic romantic tutu with an emphasis on historical technique. I’ll go into further text details at a later date, but for now, here are some photos of the construction process that I opted not to upload with my assignment. For future reference, this took about five hours to complete, cut to finish.
Adding the final layer of tulle to the basque.
Fabric cut using my custom basque pattern. I opted to use twill over spandex, as twill would have been a more historically accurate choice.
Finished romantic tulle skirt!
