Hi friends! It’s been forever since I wrote, but I could not help myself. I am so excited to share with you that I just published a new book entitled, “A Blueprint for Hope: Raising Your Child Alongside Jesus.” This is a book meant to help and guide moms raising a child on the autism spectrum. One of the biggest things we can understand as we painfully watch our children struggle with challenges is that there is hope…and that hope is always found in Jesus. Jesus wants you to put your trust in Him as you raise your child, who was fearfully and wonderfully created by His hands. Want a peak insid ..read more

Now it’s  September, it’s time for back to school fitness – for you, Mom! For us, this year has been super challenging: discovering I had PTSD, a flood that led to mold discovery, another move, job loss, falling out with friends. In light of all the stressors, I laid back on my gym visits. As you might know, I am a big fan of SoldierFit, a gym that challenges me with crossfit and weight training. But after the PTSD revelation, I got bored…and stopped going more than 2-3 times a week – or less. The problem is crossfit/bootcamp type workouts require you to stay active at the gym 4 or more t ..read more

Raising a child on the autism spectrum is no easy feat but after more than a decade in, I’ve learned a few things out in the world that has made me a better mother and with that, hopefully, given my daughter a better future. And as a huge fan of “The Mandolorian,” I couldn’t help but notice that there are some real truths to be learned. Why wouldn’t there be? After all, Mando’a is a fighter, cast in a priceless, tough set of armor that he never takes off, but underneath lies a soft and compassionate soul that longs for justice. I’ve never heard a more apt definition of an Autism Warrior Paren ..read more

F-word series: Fortitude

Once upon a time, I wrote an “F-word series” and today I’m revisiting a word that you have to embrace if you want to be great: FORTITUDE According to Dictionary.com, fortitude is a noun meaning, “mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously”. Wow. Hard. CORE.  Lots of heavy-hitter terms there, did you notice? “emotional strength”, “adversity”, “courageously.” A difficult skill, and so very much needed in times like these. But HOW do you cultivate fortitude? If you’re a parent though, and you’re doing the best you can, then you already ..read more

We live in an incredibly toxic world. It seems no matter what you do, you cannot avoid exposure to harmful chemicals, compounds, and nano-toxins in your food, water, and the very air you breathe. It’s everything you own too. Numerous studies link these agents to cancer, Alzheimer’s, learning disabilities, miscarriage and a host of other illnesses, conditions, and complications. (Note that this article contains my affiliate links for products.) Let’s face it – we all live in a toxic home! Scientists once thought babies were protected by the placenta but now research has found that’s not the cas ..read more

So I thought I would pop in quick for an update about our struggles treating our child who is on the autism spectrum. Since she hit puberty about 2.5 years ago, we’ve struggled with regressions and physical issues, on top of what we’d already been having problems with. Predominantly, she has been suffering with terrible gut health issues common in autism. To date, we had tried NUMEROUS solutions, including: an intuitive online homeopath Nemechek protocol Karen Thomas’ protocol, although I didn’t feel right and didn’t actually do it another biomed doctor, since my original guy went out of busi ..read more

Emergency Preparedness for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs

Where I live, we don’t get tornados, hurricanes or earthquakes – or if we do, they are a mere inconvenience. While flooding is a big concern in this area, our home is not in a danger zone. While that is, of course, a blessing to my family, it also means that disaster planning is not something we often think about. Emergency preparedness for persons with disabilities and special needs is something you need if your child has severe autism or some other disability. The reality is that with changing weather patterns, the drain on the Earth’s resources especially in the summer, and the real threat ..read more
